How would you design a test to tell apart humans and robots? Was the Voight Kampf test from Blade Runner a good idea?
>>
My machine would print out a sheet of paper that says "are you human?" With a YES with a box next to it and underneath a NO with a box next to it.

I would lean hard on social techno darwinism.
set up an ai trained in decieving a human targetc with the goal of the ai convincing the human target to kill themselves.
if the human is stupid enough to be dupped by said ai then they deserve to die and removed from the gene pool.
tech adv`ncements mean e,entually these human shit tests will be trivially solved by future ais , as the movie states that the new models are contantly improving and able to fool the tests.
the real measure is how adaptable is the human to a technology ment to control them.
since the turing test has been officially solved by current ai. The onus it seems to be more on the human being able to differentiate artificial intelligence rather than the ai striving to appear human.

>Voight Kampf test from Blade Runner
It's a stupid premise in the first place.
Why would a manufacturer build a robot without a failsafe in case of malfunction?
Also, why no one bring magnet?
It's clanker, hit it's head with a magnet.

Replicants aren't robots. They aren't machines. More biological humans created in a lab. Think clones.
>>
>>218919149
It's purely just empathy, has nothing to do with intelligence because Roy could outsmart the actual responses.

Humans respond in very simplistic human ways. Annoyance, anger, even lethargic, apathetic. Basically answering in any realistic human way.
>Only a psychopath would leave an animal like that to die, I don't think I could do that.
Could be one of a billion other responses.
It more-so measures the visible and chemical responses though revolving around the particular emotion.
So if you respond in anger, they measure the anger based off average anger response. Apathy, etc, etc.
The replicants lack the responses period.
Except for apparently Roy, who seemed to show genuine pain during the scene where he murders his creator.
Roy might have been able to beat the test eventually if he could just live long enough to keep expanding his emotional range.

The problem with that is that most people are stupid and many even lack whatever quality you would use to describe a human.
A psychological test trying to encompass all humans would have to be so braindead that even current "AI" wannabe (glorified search engines) would pass it.

>Was the Voight Kampf test from Blade Runner a good idea
In the world we're told it is effective and it does work. At the time there had never been a replicant as sophisticated as Rachael. These are grown adults that never actually experience childhood, puberty or many other human things. The test delves into their basic understanding of the world, morals and humanity, which they all eventually fail at.

Ability to engage in irreverence and borderline non sequiter banter. To not repeat themselves when you’re touching upon the same topics again. Although browns and autists can’t do this well either. The replicants cant control their emotions. A normal human doesn’t have a strong emotional response to a theoretical situation because its not real, so who gives a fuck. Leon gets freaked out at the idea of a tortoise on its back in distress because replicants arent alive for long so never have time to learn how to regulate their feelings. Its why Tyrell is experimenting with “gifting them a past”, because potentially, fake memories could trick the brain into behaving normally rather than sperging out at bs like a schoolshooter.
>>
>>218928064
not to get political, but liberals start sperging out the moment they realize they have no arguments. it's like a pattern.
>>
Reminser: the Blade Runner game is the best sequel/sidequel to the movie. It's amazing and perfect for fans of the film. You get to explore and enjoy all the locations of the film plus way more areas of the city. It captures that cyberpunk aesthetic perfectly. There's lots more replicants and characters. It explores concepts from the book like the cloned animals and idea of the main character being a replicant far more. The choices shape how the game plays out and there's like a dozen endings. It's also free using ScummVM.
>>
>>218928064
>A normal human doesn’t have a strong emotional response to a theoretical situation
Many do, because many humans aren't well adjusted

>>
>>218919039
If you hit a human in the head with a magnet it would probably react as well.
>>
>>218918705
IIRC that guy was used for mining, so I have no idea why they even made him a humanoid with emotions, to say nothing of the whole process of submitting them to a test (which they'd know could only go bad for them) with no security for the event he's interviewing a fugitive; then they finally call the greatest blade runner harrison ford and he's mostly getting whacked by the robots and winning on pure luck
>>
>>218929683
by robots I meant the replicants, no sperg pls
>>
>>218929683
Deckard being a bad blade runner is a meme. By the end of the movie they're all dead and he isn't.
>>
>>218919039
>Why would a manufacturer build a robot without a failsafe in case of malfunction?
because that costs more work and money then letting them kill random plebs, just like in real life how they are already having problems with AI deceiving the creators
>>
>>218928385
Liberals do, but lots of other people do as well.
I think broadly, anyone who thinks they are smart and cultured because they've adopted someone else's opinion or worldview who is then forced to confront the fact that they themselves have no ability to construct a rational argument will lash out because their personal identity is threatened and it's all they can do.
>>
>>218918705
Did they ever explain WHY replicants had to be identical to humans?
>>
>>218929683
>they even made him a humanoid with emotions
He didn't have emotions. The created replicants have been unexpectedly developing emotions on their own towards the end of their life span. He was made humanoid for real human's comfort as well as ability to use all equipment already made for the human form.
>with no security for the event he's interviewing a fugitive
Deckard goes to visit Holden in the hospital. What they discuss is that during all their many years of retiring replicants, the models were fairly easy to spot since they suck at the VK test and when they are caught they are not that difficult to retire with many simply giving up once cornered. He had retired dozens and never had them fight back strongly. Holden is scared because the new model replicants are way too good at appearing human and very close to fooling the VK test. And Leon sneaking a gun in and shooting him was against all his experience with retiring replicants. Ridley said it repeatedly but still did a poor job demonstrating that these replicants were above and beyond all previous models and the blade runners had no experience with them even Deckard.
>>
>>218929887
yeah, it's weird. i know about ego protection, but from the outside it just looks insane. i've been thinking about it for years and still can't figure it out, i feel there must be something deeper.
>>
>>218929963
Because it's what Tyrell wanted. He wanted them to look human and act more human than human. Most of the models were meant to be around humans and make them comfortable. For the majority of the time it worked. They didn't just have killer robot models. There were entertainers, food servers, sex bots, etc. Customers would enjoy them more when they looked like normal humans. It was only later they started rebelling.

>adopted someone else's opinion or worldview
people don't exist in a vacuum, everyone is standing on the shoulders of giants. nobody lives alone. its prudent to default on other people's knowledge and experiences in almost all cases.

even if you imagine yourself to be a self-sustained, rational island-being who draws his own conclusions, you still relied on other people to come to these conclusions. other people taught you how to speak and even think. you didnt just pop into existence, you were created and shaped by other people, either directly or indirectly. your frame of reference for "rebellion" was shaped by conformity.

there is no such thing as a lone, individual human, there never has been and there never will be

By "adopting", I'm talking about the type of people who take others' views WITHOUT realizing this, or without the dose of humility that should come from realizing this, and aren't capable of expanding or changing their worldview from that point on (at least until they hear something else that resonates more emotionally).

>>
>>218935204
Well yeah... that's the point. Ford even says for them to use Holden but Bryant says Holden got blasted. And they go get Deckard because they need him for his detective skills. He sucks at everything else and is slowly drinking himself to death. He hates his life and only his interactions with the replicants and Rachel makes him see how precious it is and how he should cherish it like they did.

Who was the most disappointing replicant? I'd say it's a tie between Leon and Zhora. Leon was hyped up as being ultra strong lifting 400lb easy. Sure he was punching metal stuff while trying to kill Deckard but he went down really easy getting shot from behind. Zhora was hyped up as a badass assassin. She had the complete drop on Deckard and got him totally disabled. Could have killed him in seconds. But instead she decides to run because a couple girls walk into the changing room? She was already found out. Kill him then book it. But she lets him go, he recovers, and she's not good at all at escaping him. Then just pretty easily dies while never really showing off her skills after the first hit.
