These movies didn't get an academy nomination in the screenplay category like Shrek did. Neither were they eventually added to the National Film Registry
>>218927364Treasure planet did bad because the Disney exec hated the guys making it, spent no money advertising it and changed its release date to the second week of chamber of secrets Nothing to do with Shrek
>>218927437>changed its release date to the second week of chamber of secretsThird week actually
>>218927364Shrek was kino, no need to throw it under the bus. It wasn't even the first big CGI movie, that was Toy Story.
None of these films are particularly good. Each has one or two strong elements in an otherwise wholly mediocre and/or forgettable production.Atlantis has a decent first act that it ripped off wholesale from Stargate, and some interesting designs, but otherwise it's not really anything to write home about. Also Kida is sex.El Dorado has a few good comedic beats, and the God song is catchy, but otherwise it's not really anything to write home about. Also Chel is sex.Sinbad has some nice animation on the sea and smoke effects, but otherwise it's not really anything to write home about. Also Eris is sex.Treasure Planet has that one really good scene between Jim and Silver that everyone loves, but otherwise it's not really anything to write home about. Also Amelia is sex.
>>218927364Need Kida wife so I can worship her body with my tongue (especially her tight little brown asshole) every day, and make an entire race of swarthy mixed Atlanteans with.
>Toy Story was the first animation movie nominated for Best Original Screenplay>Shrek was the first animation movie nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay
>>218927364We're NEVER getting another Atlantis. I think it was the last time characters got murdered in a Disney film.
Why did the internet collectively decide to pretend these mediocre movies were good all of a sudden? They flopped and got zero traction for a reason when they came out, people thought they sucked balls and rightfully so
>>218927587she was a powerful influence on my preferences today
>>218927993Hurry on back to Mrs. Lopez's class, little zoomer.
Atlantis is remarkable for being so different from most of Disney’s other stuff. It’s a pulp adventure that pretty much nails what it’s trying to be (danger! Mystery! Hot women!). It’s insane to compare this to Disney’s second attempt at a pulp adventure, Strange World. That one sands its edges so much that even babies would find it boring.
>>218927364Shrek was funny
>>218927364CGI was always going to take over simply because it was cheaper and easier
>>218927551>Shrek>kinoChoose one, americuck
>>218927940Funny thing is live-action remake might actually be profitable. But Disney only remakes hits
>>218928221But they’re running low on hits to remake so they’ll have to start pulling from deeper in the bench. Live action Oliver & Company, here we come!
>>218928276>from deeper in the benchwe're getting an Air Bud sequel this year. how much deeper can they go
>>218927364i want to fuck Eris and that cantain from Treasure island
>>218928442Air Bud had a successful theatrical series and a ton of direct-to-video sequels. That’s actually not as deep in the bench as you think.
>>218927437actively wanting it to fail because you want to switch to cgi because of the success of shrek has a lot to do with shrekthe movie itself as also terrible.
Shrek is awesome
>>218927587Animated girls owe me sex
>>218927993NostalgiaAlso, Atlantis got a sequel, but those people conveniently never mention it because it's shit.
AND I WANT A MOMENT TO BE REAL
>>218927364because compared to shrek they are ass>>218927587/thread

For me, it's Titan A.E.
treasure planet and sinbad both sucked and everyone that likes them is gay
>>218927364Pretty sure there were like ten seasons of Stargate though

>>218927364Replace sinbad with titan AE
>>218927364They are all worse than Shrek.
>>218927364there was just no audience for movies like this compared to something like shrek because anime was becoming way more accessable at the same time and has blood and swearing and stuff
It's interesting to find internet articles about Shrek that were written long before it premiered
>>218927364Why is Titan A.E never mentioned among these four? It was pure kino
My cousin and I wanted to see sinbad. His parents were Christians that didn't approve of a movie with pirates. So we saw Rugrats go wild. Still haven't seen sinbad.
>>218935709>So we saw Rugrats go wildShould've rewatched Finding Nemo instead
