This movie absolutely shouldn't work, but the aesthetics are so extravagant and unique, the editing so schizophrenic, and the performances so committed it's absolute kino. I loved it.
>>218953270Soundtrack was pretty good toohttps://youtu.be/esEcnEOdItkhttps://youtu.be/TzwJI0WYLVk
I'm seeing it at the cinema on friday, super hyped
First time a movie actress made me feel funny.

>>218958817I got back into elvis after wonder of u edits and 3000 miles to graceland.
>>218953270It was a very 90's film, a lot of movies were like what you described in the 90's, it was a fun time for movies and creativity.
>best character is a black tranny >best part of the book is literally recited by a black tranny

>>218954689I bite my thumb at you, anon
>>218959956wait I need to watch this because the first scene of the book is a rape joke and I'm not sure if it's in the film. Like the first scene of the book has the guys saying if they find any women from the other family they will push them against the wall, brandish their naked weapons and>cut off the maiden's heads
>>218959872To be fair, he is a crossdresser for a Halloween party and the song, young hearts bangs hard.

>>218962825Quiet pig vomit.
>>218960313It took place in mexico and the cars were loud and garish. They reminded what the low men in the stephen king universe drive.

ESL here. Do EFL read Shakespeare in the original?
>>218965307ye and the game is you have to pick out the rape jokes. like romeo and juliet starts with a rape joke and then the nurse calls juliet a slut and in hamlet there's an oral sex joke
>spoils the ending in the first minuteShit writing.
>>218965719An attempt at humor, I suppose
>>218965307Shakespeare is required reading every year of highschool as part of the demoralization to discourage reading.

>>218962735Ostentatious!
>>218953793For me it was Olivia Hussey as Juliet. Saw that version of Romeo and Juliet in freshman year of high school and went home Googling her and fapping furiously to her.>When her nude scene happened.>Some gasp and a girl shouts "OMG! BOOBS">Slacker who wasn't paying attention goes "WAIT! WHERE? REWIND THAT!">Teacher goes "SEE? That's what happens when you don't pay attention! No I will not rewind that, in life you can't rewind to do things differently."
>>218966768Amazingly based lesson. Very apropos.
>>218959872He's not a tranny. Back then, men dressing as women was universally considered a joke. He was amusing his friends.
>>218964771>>218963134It's set in the fictional "Verona Beach" which is a play on the setting of the play (Verona, Italy), and Venice Beach, which it's clearly supposed to resemble. It was filmed in Mexico and Alameda.
>>218968004Plus he was taking cholesterol pills. side effects, man.
>>218953270I watched this in 9th grade English class. Troy too.
>>218968004I forgot everything about the character but he was supposed to be "androgynous" as he was both sides of the conflict therefore portrayed as a troon/ fey gay guy
>>218953270Is this a musical? cause I hate musicals
>>218969182No it's a straight up adaptation, original dialogue in modern dress.
>>218969239maybe I'll give it a chance then
>>218969032/po/ has poisoned your mind. None of that is true. He isnt androgynous at all. He's a guy in a dress because guys in dresses are funny. At the very very best you could say he was doing drag.
All the main protagonists did was scream real loud. John Leguizamo was the best and most convincing role. He was measured properly in his character. Nothing over the top. An excellent Tybalt. The one coming in close was probably the guy who played mercucio.
>>218953793She looked quite similar to a childhood crush I had.
>>218953793(I get way more use out of this pic than I ever thought.)
I can still hear the DVD menu theme in my head

>GIVE ME MY LONGSWORD, HO
>>218974342I used to quote this all the time. I remember when it was first read in my 9th grade class. We all started laughing at what a dickhead he was for calling his wife a whore. Until my teacher explained the difference to us.

>>218978129>but it gets a pass because reasonsWhen it's deemed 'art', it's OK. I'm not taking a side in the fight, but this is how the fashion industry has gotten away with sexualizing 12 year olds. Meanwhile, in the US, a man was convicted of cp for having manga shipped to his home in Ohio from Japan. Nothing makes sense.Anyway, the deal with the Hussey is that she was adamant that it wasn't a problem until she needed money. That's probably part of why the case was dismissed.
