This show is so weird. It starts with a simple concept where you have episodes of like 1 cop having to kill someone in self defense and quickly turns into everyone being some absurdly hypercompetent action hero like Ethan Hunt or Jason Bourne where they're taking on Hannibal Lecter, getting into shootouts with 560 gangsters in the streets and do no knock raids despite being patrol officers, fight cartels in other countries, track down Hannibal Lecter, solve 50 year old cold case murders, deal with mad bombers who is putting bomb collars on people all over the city, etc

Why do boomers like insanely over the top stuff like this when they grew up with actually good shows like Columbo, Perry Mason, etc

It's not aggressively bad like some more recent shows like Blue Bloods but it's so strange how it went from a novel concept to a slop factory made to placate lonely 80 year olds like NCIS.

It also started right before St Floyd so now it has to constantly flagellate itself for being about cops

I loathe this. Bosch did it too but it wasn't as frequent.

The genre peaked with NYPD Blue and nothing has really ever come close despite there being thousands and thousands of episodes of procedural cop slop to have come out since then.

>Why do boomers like insanely over the top stuff like this
The vast majority of it is paint by numbers garbage like Blue Bloods so it makes sense that there would be a show here and there that goes full schlock.

This is due to departments becoming guarded and insular of internal secrets, the blue wall of silence.

No idea what you mean by that since its fiction not a documentary but the real reason is that procedurals used to be where screenwriters cut their teeth before moving onto bigger and better things but now its just bottom of the barrel losers that will never do anything else

All cops do now is say get back, get back, get back, stay back, get back, get back, get back.
>>

Yeah because you're a fuckin uninformed retard, you don't know the actual reasons why procedurals suck now. You think the actual peak is NYPD Blue, you need a fuckin helmet on your head.
