If you separate them from the novels, i.e. watch them for their own merit in their own universe you will get much more out of them.I have read Book 1 and Messiah btw. I agree that Dunc deviates from the main plot and characters, but so does pretty much every adaptation of the books. It's impossible to fit all of it into a 2-3 hour runtime. The miniseries is the one to have come the closest.
