I prefer the first half of Dune over anything in the new ones, but the second half is a cliff-notes abridged version of what the second half should have been. That is where the new trilogy comes in. We needed that, done properly.

The Emperor, some of the music (like Prophecy) captures the feel of the books more than anything Zimmer has done, and I would say the worms too. They obviously have the tangiability factor because they are puppets.And obviously Sean Young is easy on the eyes the way Zendaya is not
In DunC alot of Paul's lines are given to Princess Irulan because visuals are more important then a proper adaptation

The Dunc aesthetic is a little too bland, and could have used a dash of Lynch's look. Lynch's look itself is *too*... rich and ornate, though.

Lynch's Dune completely falls apart when Paul joins the Fremen, because in that film they are just a generic Star Wars Rebel faction with none of the details that make the Fremen interesting. Both films remove the orgy scene and all references to the Baron's boy-buggering orientation, and are so much poorer for those omissions. The Baron is a more pungent villain when you know he wants to fuck Paul.

Lynch Dune is the perfect example of how to do celebrity casting the right way. Like Slan Philips as the reverend mother is the perfect choice for that role.
