Is there a more millennial movie than Scott Pilgrim Vs The World?
>underaged asian high schooler or BDP dyed haired whore tough choice desu
>>219032419>going for the roastie over the pure asian waifu
>>219032989yeah but she's 17 no matter how mature she is people will ostracize you can call you a pedophile
>>219033619I remember reading SP in high school and a dude next to me read the back cover and said "a 25 and a 17 year old? That would never happen today lol"I didn't even think it was that weird desu but everyone looks like an adult in the movie which I had seen too. I just kinda laughed it off
>>219033619Weird how nobody cared back then
>>219033619You could try living in a civilized country where the age of consent is 16 which Canada happens to be and that's where the movie is set.
Nick & Norah's Infinite Playlist was the biggest hipster wank I've ever seen.Scott Pilgrim did have a few things to say about the young male experience; he can't pick the 17 year old, but the roast his age has a shitload of baggage. It could have been a GenX movie if the special effects were there in 1990 which they were not.But Nick & Norah is all about bobos in paradise. It is all about hipsters who get through life by knowing things you rubes don't. It was just terrible.
Perks of Being a Wallflower
>Hot Topic starts playing
>>219032285Juno
>Sub 6 Michael Cera>Continuously annoyed by quirky yandere Asian teen gf I just can’t get past this aspect of the film. I know it is ridiculous on purpose and it still gives me whiplash. Like there has to be some sort of meta subtext where the creatives are saying “this is presented as genuine for general audience purposes and job security, but you know that I know that you know that this shit is silly.” I’m not even a blackpill guy but come on. Come on now.
>>219032285Watched this with a friend a while ago and I died from cringe. (I came back from the dead just to warn other anons to avoid this).
>>219032285I found it overwhelmingly noisy and turned it off
>>219034463Hamburger phone
Canada really was a magical place before the chinks and jeets took over
>>219034463Juno was written by a GenXer, and all Cody's movies bear that weight.
>>219032285this movie fucking sucks. >>219034463/thread
>>219032285The comments under the YouTube video for Scott Pilgrim Ruined an Entire Generation of Women are great.
I'm going to see Metric again later this year bros
>>219032285>>219034463Superbad
>>219034758Lol she has a flip phone
>>219032285Yes but it has really good music. Watching it in the theater was a great experience, afterwards on video not so much.
>>219032285500 Days of Summer
i dont know this movie still kinda has a gen x vibe to me
>>219032285500 days of summerPerks of being a wallflower Scott pilgrimAll shitty reddit hyped moviesOnly juno was kino
>Laminate the stasis>My-my-my-my serpentine>I got a breathalyzer>And my body's clean
>>219037501it's because the age range on generations is dumb. Scott Pilgrim is millennial coded, but old 1980s millennials that spent their teen years in arcades and playing music, not 1990s millennials that spent their teens years online gaming and figuring out the internet
>>219037619>anime references
>>219032285It hits different when you realize Scott is the hapa creator’s self-insert/wish fulfillment (he wishes he was a white Toronto kid)
>>219037706dragon ball is literally '84. Scott plays the FF2 bass rift from '88
>>219037453I agree, I feel like that was a more mainstream movie too, in that more people than just internet dorks watched it. >>219037706Yes? Anime was very popular among American nerds in the 1980s and only became more popular with the internet. The "first wave" of American fandom peaked in the mid 90s, right as 80s-born queers were able to buy their own videotapes.
movies like this are more millennial coded IMO
>>219037882Fandom peaked in the 90s when dbz and pokemon were played after kids came home from school
>>219036723jelly, I saw them a few years ago and it was incredible, Emily looked directly at me and smiled while they were playing Combat Baby
hello againfren of a frenI know you well
>>219037882nobody could realistically buy videotapes it was like $60 an episode, you had to know a guy and get a bootleg. post-90s internet had nothing on>that one guy with an external drive full of anime
>>219037975Late 90s-2000s was the peak of the anime fandom. You can't forget Naruto and Inuyasha.
It's fun
It was a rushed version of the comics
>>219037790that is just assumed
>>219037342to her its just a phone
>>219032285What is millennial about it? I would categorize it as non-binary, neuro-divergant, lgbtqia+, not "millennial"
>>219034758She's also a sub 6
>>219036480Ironically that song is written by a foreigner incel neet retard who is a totally ruined person. They all need to go back I say.
>>219037619>millennial codedfag
>>219032285Death of Dick Long>implicit gay joke>unnecessarily heart on your sleeve depressing>horse cock lul>nickelback bad
>>219032285yes, pretty muchif you don't agree you're a zoomer see >>219039233
>>219038250late 90s/early 00s anime was still gauche to normies. the shift was around 2007-2008
>>219039776>to normiesanime movies were in theaters winning awards and it was all over basic cable by 2001-2002
>>219032989He acknowledged she was too good for him.
>>219033619Who fucking cares?
>>219032285The romantic part where he's in bed with Ramona made me feel an intense pang of >tfw no gf
>>219040609I've literally always hated women like this. >dream girlYeah, nightmares are dream too.
>>219040609my dream girl is a girl that loves me not a whore
>>219034758?? she was the one that was looks matched with him?
>>219041706ethnics make it weird yeah
>>219034758Playing in a band is a real life relationship hackt. knower
>>219040609I hate how foids have to project their mental illness on everything just to get validation. these essays that try to make connections belong in a locked filing cabinet for you english teacher to sell to film studios and production houses
>>219032285What does that mean?
