>movie's called "sorcerer">no wizards
The Wizard has no sorcerers in it either
The wizard is fate, dummy.
>>219034763It's better than Wages in basically every aspect.
The failure of this movie is why I hate Star Wars and its fans
>>219034837Wages has a hysterical ending. I laughed for several minutes. Sorcerer was pretty somber
>>219034984Everybody blames Star Wars but I really don't think that's the major reason why it flopped
>>219035769It was the dumb name that killed it. Should have been called Truck Wars and it would have been a hit
>>219035769It's definitely the reason why, A New Hope opened in 43 theaters the first week and it was a little slow to take off, when Sorcerer came out a month later it was still dominating everything.
>>219036112It should have been called "The Truck That Had To Go Reallyyyy Reallyyyy Slow"
>>219034763Should've called it Blood, Sweat, and Tires.
>>219036112William Friedkin is the GOAT but I don't understand why he didn't jsut call it 'Wages of Fear'
>>219034763>truck called Lazaro>it never resurrects
Sorcerors aren't Wizards.A sorceror's powers are intuitive whereas a wizard's is academic.Boy, if you have a job I hope you get fired for that blunder.
It's five minutes before my ban expires!
>>219036188It's a weird movie about fugitives driving explosive trucks. It's fucking kino, but I doubt it was a box office draw (also, see Heaven's Gate, also kino and that didn't have to compete against Star Wars).
>>219037828What's cooler? Magic the Gathering or Dungeons and Dragons?
>>219037828Also, if it was David Mirkin I'm paraphrasing, he learned years later from a friend of a friend that Bill Friedkin laughed his ass off at that Sorcerer ref in The Simpsons.
>>219038486Vampire the Eternal Struggle
>>219036112>>219037563I would have called it Nitro.
>>219037828>A sorceror's powers are intuitive whereas a wizard's is academic.Sorry, I'm a bit of a retard. You mean a wizard has to learn magik while a sorcerer is naturally born with it?
>>219038576Never heard of it
>>219039111This fucking guy doesn't even play D&D lmao. What a fucking normie.
>>219039111Correct. Wizards are a lot more versatile than Sorcerers since they can learn and cast literally every spell in existence, whereas Sorcerers can only ever know specific spells.
>>219034984star wars was an incredible film and singlehandedly saved film as a medium.sorcerer was kind of boring and is just a decent b rate flick. high risk was better and also kinda sucks
>>219034763It's called sorcerer because it puts a spell on you to make you fall sleep for the entire first half of the movie
My complaint with this film is they needed like 3 or 4 more scenes with the 4 of them to build some sort of camaraderie/tension/conflict outside of the montage of them fixing up the trucks. Everything else is perfect.
>>219034763>Roy scheiderWe're gonna need a bigger bridge!
>>219034763but is there sorcery? perhaps scrolls or wands that have spells stored?
great flick but the ending was mean-spirited. roy scheider had been through enough, the gangsters hunting him down was too much
>>219040867Part of it was that they had no real camaraderie other than all being on the same job together, that was the point. What trust, respect and enmity they had for one another grew over the course of the trip.
>>219034763The woman in the village is a bruja. She gives the Frenchman a charm before he sets off.
>>219037828It never occurred to me classic Simpsons did a Sorcerer bit.
>>219037828oh shit
>>219037563I'd have called it the chuzzwazza
>>219043980like lord of the ring
Terrible remake. Friedkin removed the thing that made the original so suspenseful on purpose, coz he thought it was "boring".He's such a fucking idiot.>>219040867Watch the original. >>219043980>that was the point.Without it, the audience has no reason to give a shit about anything that happens.
>>219038427It would have done well if Steve McQueen hadn’t quit as the lead because Friedkin wouldn’t give a role to Ali McGraw
One cool scene ,shit flick
>>219034763The Palestinian did nothing wrong
>>219037828Invented by D&D and not representative at all of folkloric and mythological fictionDie
I'm still confused why the hitman is in their group. Does he run away to some poor small town after every single hit job? That doesn't seem like a sustainable business model. He still had money to ride on a plane and wear nice clothes. He seemed in a very different position than the other three. And also like he very much needed to be on the truck even if it meant killing someone else to take their spot.
>>219034763The truck's name is sorcerer. Next time dont browse the social media on your phone, and pay attention to the movie
>>219049710That was shown for all of two seconds out of the entire runtime, in a blink and you miss it scene where it's not the focus. The name also has no relevance to the plot whatsoever and is so pointless it could be anything. The truck could be named Fartbag. Would you still claim the movie should also be named that? And it's incredibly retarded to think random broken down vehicles require a name. They're pieces of junk that get discarded as soon as their work is done.
>>219034763This was a good movie to go into blind. The title and the poster do not make it clear at all what it's about.
>>219049913>Truck named sorcerer because it will work its magic and deliver these guys with a deathwish to their destination. This is a very special job for these trucks, so they gotta have a name>Similar to how people name their ships>The truck's name appears briefly, and its a great check to see whos paying attention or not>The truck and its name are featured on the movie's posterI dont see any problem here.
>>219045819 yeah lol it’s from “Das Bus.” Otto painting the bus like the Sorcerer truck and driving it off the broken bridge. It’s one of those deep cut gags that only works if you’ve seen Friedkin kino. Classic era Simpsons writers were absolute film nerds, they slipped in references like that constantly.
>>219038576Vampire the Masquerade is the actual tabletop/live action RPG.
>>219034763>>219049913Why did low iq cunts get filtered by this so bad?
>>YOUR ATTENTION, PLEASE. To dramatize the diverse backgrounds of the principal characters in 'Sorcerer', two of the opening sequences were filmed in the appropriate foreign languages – with sub-titles in English. Other than these opening scenes, 'Sorcerer' is an English language film.>>— Disclaimer put on Sorcerer lobby placards.[88]>Furthermore, the opening sixteen minutes contain no English language, which made the audiences think that it was a foreign subtitled film,[89] and caused walk-outs.[88] This prompted movie theatres to put a disclaimer on lobby cards asserting that for the most part, it was an English-language film.Americans are so fucking dumb lmao
This is the best adaptation of Snowrunner ever made
>>219037563Wages of Fear was already the perfect name but i think he wanted to reinforce the supernatural element of the movie that happens at the end
>>219037480Nice.
>>219038548Kek. That’s awesome.
>>219052992I feel like jungle misery movies have to have a magical element to them, Aguirre, Sorcerer, Fitzcaraldo, all have it
