Easy money, just make it into a movie

Halo tv show guaranteed that no big budget halo show/movie will ever be made again
>>
Ah yes, let's ruin another good piece of content.

Forge world saved it from being a complete disaster
>>

total foid death in the entertainment industry
>>

While the multiplayer is abysmal, the only shortcoming of the campaign is that it's... short.
>>
>finally play Halo 1-3 in 2026
>pure kino trilogy
>start Halo 4
>"yeah so the forerunners weren't humans"
How the fuck, this had to have pissed people off back in the day.
>>
>>219042084
It pisses me off right now
>>
>>219042084
Even my younger self knew that once the game got handed off to 343 to let that shit go and move on, not that Bungie went on to do much better with D*stiny and now Flopathon.
>>
>>219042528
>>219042467
I'll assume that the later games continue to shit on the trilogy, shame since the "Cortana is falling apart and you gotta save her" stuff was compelling enough to catch my interest.

It's not halo so I have no interest
>>
>>219041367
Might as well, movies are dead anyway. All thats left is to make vehicles for existing ip to sell to stupid children who cant read & have no deductive reasoning & cant follow a fucking plot for 13 seconds bc they fried their early childhood development brain on industrial engagement design for adults. A whole culture of idiots and assholes. Amazing.

Fucking festering anal polyp of humanity.

basically everything wrong with 343 Halo is the result of this one guy who doesn't know ANYTHING about Halo being given complete control. People (subhuman redditors) defend his writing because he worked on a few of the terminals in Halo 3. Said terminals made absolutely no fucking sense, contradicted every other terminal that he didn't write, and were made without Bungie's knowledge as part of an ongoing internal schism apropos of Microsoft.

reminder
>"I thought we had a truce with the Covenant?"
Frank O'Connor literally did not even know how Halo 3 ended. Halo 4 was made with the understanding that humanity and the Covenant had a truce and teamed up in an epic battle to destroy the Flood.

If there was ever a serious attempt to make the franchise into a film series of any kind, then Reach absolutely is the best place to start. What makes it so great is that its sets the story up so well of how much of a losing battle it is against such overwhelming odds. Reach also sets itself apart because of how sinister and malevolent the Covenant is depicted, without the quips of the grunts and all that, replacing their voices with more alien sounds to really sell the whole notion of the invasion as opposed to amusing the audience which can be introduced later on as the series progresses.

So of course they're going to fuck it all up.
>>
>>219044730
none of this is remotely true.
>>
>>219042084
Yeah kind of crazy how they retconned it when it’s so clear in the OT. It was built up and hinted at continuously as far back as Halo CE.

Also Reach the game is meh, Fall of Reach novel is a lot better and lacks the stupid inconsistency. Like we’re meant to believe a 30km long covenant battleship was stationed in low orbit over Reach’s main city and landed thousands of troops and glassed it and nobody (not even UNSC recon satellites/stations) ever detected it because uhhhh ONI was hiding it to not cause a panic
>>
>>219041367

Miniseries, also Cat dies last and not by a sniper shot. If it does well, then a regular series about the team before the events of Reach.
>>
>>219045096
k
all of this is common knowledge for anyone who gives a shit
>>
>>219046318
he's right lol that guy isn't a factor for either story.
>>
>>219041543
>ever be made again
Picrel was a critical and commercial failure. It didn't stop them from eventually making another Mario movie which would gross $1.3 billion.
What matters more is that the Halo game series returns to its former glory, which seems like an unlikely prospect until they hand the reins to some other better studio

It was a blunder so large that it is impossible for the setting to recover even if that was the only present issue, which it isn't
>>
A Halo thread in /tv/? How pleasant
>>
Is there any film that captures the character juxtaposition of Halo 2? Unironically think Nolan could make a H2 movie work going back and forth between the Chief and the Arbiter.
>>
>>219041367
Peter Jackson was attached to make a Halo game until Bungie jumped ship to Sony. He could've been a good choice for a movie at the time but in hindsight it probably would've been hobbit tier slop.
>>
>>219042084
There's like heavy implications in the first Halo from Guilty Sparks dialogue that Master Chief was a forerunner, never gets mentioned again.
>>
>>219041367
What is the appeal that causes people to want videogame adaptations?
>99% of them are terrible hollywood revision filled fanfic tier crap or just a completely different story with the game's branding loosely draped over it.
>At best you're getting a non-interactive version of a good story you already enjoyed.
What is the appeal here?
>>
>>219041543
Based. Microsoft really needs to let this franchise die with what little dignity it has left
>>
>>219049973
343 then knocks it out the park with the Librarian saying the Chiefs entire bloodline was planned and leading up to him getting another 12 inches added to his height by her space magic.
>>
>>219049973
The implications were that humanity itself were Forerunner, because Guilty Spark in The Maw talks about
>"To have a record of all of our lost time! Human history, is it? Fascinating."
While the implication is that the MC is very reminiscent of the Forerunner Guilty Spark remembers, humanity as a whole is included in that umbrella with the "to have a record of all OUR lost time" thing. If you're an oldfag fan like myself, the attitude at the time in the fandom wasn't whether or not humanity was connected to the Forerunner, but how they were connected to the Forerunner.
>>
>>219050017
It's the "what if it was good tho!" mentality. Once in a blue moon we do Vidya adaptations that work, like picrel.
>>
>>219042084
In halo 3 guilty Spark says chief is "the child of my makers, inheritor of all they left behind" then says "you *are* forerunner" so even in these 5 seconds it's ambiguous
>>
>>219050062
Sounds gea

I never gave a shit about babby's first game franchise, I did like the lore and it pissed me off.

It's just bizarre, if actually playing the game is such a barrier for people to experience the game's story then just watch a letsplay or watch a cutscene compilation. They're effectively advocating for a non-interactive version of a piece of interactive media, which they can already get, but also want to pay for it?
>>
>>219042084
They always had six fingers, so they were never humen.
>>
>>219050492
Bullshit. That was so the gondolas (amongst other Forerunner hardware) could be activated ambidextrously.

It’s a left and right human hand overlaid on top of each other. It’s actually sneaky proof they were human

How would you even think Forerunners were human?
>>

so why was reach so hated i've played it seemed really good
>>
>>219041367
True. The show could have been an awesome hard military sci-fi show. The fucking trailers for the games had more soul.

Maybe back in 2012 but it's been now 16 years removed since the Halo franchise was culturally relevant in a major way. I doubt it'll be a blockbuster.
>>
>>219041543
Halo was never a tv show material. Just for action film romps.

Also, careful with the Halo threads...

Mario transcends generations. Halo is a gay millennial IP. A movie will not be made in the future
