If there was ever a serious attempt to make the franchise into a film series of any kind, then Reach absolutely is the best place to start. What makes it so great is that its sets the story up so well of how much of a losing battle it is against such overwhelming odds. Reach also sets itself apart because of how sinister and malevolent the Covenant is depicted, without the quips of the grunts and all that, replacing their voices with more alien sounds to really sell the whole notion of the invasion as opposed to amusing the audience which can be introduced later on as the series progresses.So of course they're going to fuck it all up.
