I could've been different...
They really did ray dirty the entire season.

S2 is kino and I'm tired of pretending its not.
>>219053598Just finished it last night and yeah, it's kvno. People who say the last episode is bad don't deserve good things in their life.

>>219053557Its just pizzas attempt at lynch
Out of all the lies people themselves... I bet that's the most common.
>>219053598The main issue is it was following S1 and people had sky high expectations
>>219052768Literally me...
>>219053805>be me>be in high school>be loser>doing phys ed>do athletics one afternoon>outrun the fastest track athlete in our school>coach offers me a spot on the athletics team>be on sports teams might make me cool>requires extra practice>need gym clothes washed more often>mom refuses to wash gym clothes more often>can't join athletics team>have to tell coach embarrassing dumb reason why>i see on his face how dumb he thinks the reason is >remain loser for rest of schoolThat's *one* of a dozen formative experiences I was dealt that made me the loser I am today. >>219055195>getting uppers and downers at the same timeI dont get it
>>219053598I hated the fag cop storyline. Too many characters. Should have been just Velcoro and the "i love big dicks" girl. It wasn't as good as S1, but it was good. Also, Lera Lynn's music massively elevated it. I listened to "This is my least favorite life" for years afterwards. Both S1 and S2 have been very impactful on me. Everything afterwards was awful.
>>219060883Season 3 wasnt THAT bad

>>219052768What a let down after season 1 it was so shit
>>219060883agreed with most of this. I didn't sup dislike any storyline or character, but it needed to be simpler and more concise I guess. >>219060913It was very disppointing. Pizza obviously felt pressure from HBO not to be "too creative" and write something similar to Season 1, AND they had to do DEI casting, so we get a mediocre lead, and the criminal case wasn't particularly interesting, nor was the story or the lead's issues with his marriage or memory. It fell flat almost completely. That's why basically no one talks about it and wouldn't if it weren't part of True Detective. Season 2 can stand on its own though. It's a tragedy how HBO handled the franchise. First season is massively successful, so second season is rushed, and even though very good, flawed in a way that rubs normies and critics, so third season is a "correction" to try to recreate season 1 viewership and reviews, even cleverly starring a black Oscar winner, which makes several aspects of the show impervious to critics. That last point was particularly smart on HBO's part, while HBO fucked nearly every other aspect up. The suits there have done a number on modern TV.
>>219061338Lol what the bitch gonna do?
>>219060883God warrior was a good character. A fag who didnt want to be a fag. Inverted dei shit. Caspere knew this.
>>219061180That's a lie i won't tell myself.
>>219060883>>219062493I enjoyed that character desu. I think my only gripe with S2 is I wish they had leaned into the cult shit more
>>219062597If you read the original release regarding what season 2 was supposed to be about i think (((they))) (((shut it down))) so human trafficking was the compromise.
>>219060883At least the fag was bathed in sickly green light most of the time

>>219052768With arms wide open...
>>219053598I think I'll finally watch it. I've seen some people say it's not good but how could it be bad with Vince Vaughn and Colin Ferrell as the leads?
>>219053557Every season has to have little weird supernatural elements, season 2 had that and the gay cop's girlfriend feeling him die lol.
>>219052768God is punishing him for In Bruges.
>>219060883Gay cop is one of the best homosexuals ever put on television because his faggotry is not only condemned and associated with past evils, but he also manages to beat his gay demon before dying.

>>219061534>>219062597This is the answer:>>219063922Everything about seasons 2, 3, and 4 of True Detective goes back to the meddling in season two that was performed by the Hollywood apparatus. For all I know, the interference could have started during the production stage for season one. What we do know, though, is that the original idea that Pizzolatto had for season two would have been set in Los Angeles, and would have involved human trafficking in pedophilia. Obviously that couldn't ever happen, so season 2 was neutered. Shades of the quality remain, but it has a noticeable air of being incomplete, "half-cooked" as critics called it. Look at season three, and what is the outcome? Turns out the trafficking in children was the lonely daughter of one lonely mogul, and was not malicious at all, in fact. I don't know what pressure was leveraged against Pizzaman, but I'm sure I never want to have to face it. Season four and beyond will just be to bury the show, in my opinion. "Remember True Detective season one?" "Yeah, that was great. It sucks now" That's all anyone ever needs to remember about TD, as far as Hollywood is concerned.
>>219065734Damn that sucks. I understood season 1 though.
>>219065635Collin Farrel is a great lead in it, probably my favorite character in the whole show. Vaughn is a bit too stiff for my taste, he's a hit or miss actor. I really enjoyed Season 2. The main gripe is that it suffered from too many lead characters and that season's slow startup couldn't keep the audience engaged (There's a big event by E4 that should've happened way earlier). The plot is great but pretty convoluted in comparison to S1 and a lot of people ended up not understanding anything that was going on.
Vaughn should have had untraceable diamonds at the ready.
>>219065957Velcoro and Frank at Crystal Ranch

>>219070624yeah i'm with you. i like the show but it's a genuine waste of a great cast (yes even taylor kitsch). there's nothing totally new we haven't seen in td s2 that we haven't seen elsewhere. i daresay td s2 would have been a better show if it was just a miniseries based on frank and his crumbling empire as he tries to go legitimate. that's kinda sorta what the show is about anyway. vince vaughn and farrel carried the show on their backs, no offense to mcadams and kitsch.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WRh7O0zZzA4
