"First Blood" wasn't about a supersoldier saving America by defeating all the bads because he's a physical and moral ubermensch. Mickey's death right after his loss sees Rocky at his lowest point ever, and Apollo comes in to help elevate Rocky to his former glory, both Apollo and Rocky now ending as friendly rivals.It's a perfectly laid out trilogy, but IV and V don't really add anything to it.
