Am I the only one who really liked Nosferatu? A lot of people seem to only talk about it ironically, and make you feel like a pleb for really digging the atmosphere and cinematography.
>>
>>219096712
I liked it a lot but it can't be discussed seriously here.
>>
If you're making a Dracula movie, he should be dapper and refined
If you're making an Orlok movie, he should be Bat Boy
Eggers made a Hobo Dracula movie. Why?
>>
I just don't have any interest. They already made this movie TWICE and I haven't heard good enough reasons to watch a third from a director I couldn't care less about.
>>
Eggers movies all have the same problem, they're good but I'd rather just watch an older movie that doesn't have to compromise
>>
I enjoyed it, but Depp was painfully miscast. Not sure if Anya would have done much better, they definitely needed someone else.
>>
>>219096779
They should have made a genderbent Nosferatu movie with Alexandra Daddario
>>
>>219096779
>They already made this movie TWICE
once in the 1930s and onther time in some weirdo euro country in the 80s? so 50 years isnt long enough to do another vampire film? really?
>>
I really enjoyed it but sadly all the /film/niggers and CoppolaDrac fags tried to meme it to death so now any decent discussion gets plagued with people posting the one scene of Lily-Rose Depp being cringe and try to invalidate the entire film off of it.
>>219096802
Case in point
>>
>>219096712
No, I liked the callbacks to the original movie and thought it was a nice modern spin on the story. It's helped by excellent cinematography, sound editing and a solis cast
>>
>>219096712
It was fine. If I didn't know the story so well, it probably would have been better. Nosferatu looked kind of dumb. The atmosphere presented to us should have made for a much scarier movie, but it really wasn't at all.
It was a let down to me, but I could envision watching it years from now in October or something.
Eggers has lost his touch too. His three best movies are original stories, but now he's just doing remakes of old stuff. It's kind of disappointing that his next a werewolf movie and labyrinth remake.
>>
>>219096872
I also have a natural skepticism of any film released after 2015, especially remakes and reboots, don't care how long it's been
>>
>>219096888
Not invalidating the film, that was just the most egregious example of her terrible acting. Everything else I really enjoyed, especially the sound design and cinematography.

I also wish they focused a lot more on Ennis and Defoe's characters, would have made for a much more interesting story with Ennis trying to apply logic to Nosferatu's existence and Defoe being a schizo vampire hunting.
>>
>>219096712
It’s beautiful to look at for sure. Really captured a lot of the old film style cinematography and updating it.
>>
>>219096712
It looks better than a funhouse you can pay to visit.
>>
>>219097079
Is she a terrible actress because...her having a seizure looked unconvincing/inaccurate to you?
Dafoe is better in small doses. You don't want the only guy who understands what's happening around too much in your horror movie
>>
>The director and actor for Norseman in another kino together
>"You know, I'm something of a vampire hunter myself"
>Follows all the basic plot of 1929 Nosferatu, making Bram Stoker's wife wanna sue again from her grave
>Explains the errors of Enlightenment and Romantic assumptions to modern audience (men "blinded" by reason come to rely on said witch-doc archetype, albeit too late. The "crazy man also being the only sane man" trope).
>Cinematography, ambient music, all the Eggers tricks to create raw and viseral emotion, Lily-Rose's cringe faces aside.
>Good to see Hoult, Dafoe, and Quicksilver team up in a buddy hunter-kino, much like Keanu, Hopkins' Van Helsing and the Texan in the Dracula (1992).
>The Count himself is every man's ideal: castle to himself, villagers leave him alone, takes no shit and can't be bothered to wait on anyone
All in all, loved it and bought the 4k steelbook. May have gone into the theater with impossibly high expectations. Better than the expressionist Nosferatu, but, if comparable, I still find the 1992 to be the better horror film.

Just saw Del Toro's Frankenstein and find the two compliment each other nicely. Heard the new Dracula's a piece of crap, but I might see it now. Keep getting reels of sexy vampire redhead waifu and "Dracula sees Nina 1st time" reels playing to Enya's Caribbean Blue.

no i really liked it too except for aaron taylor johnson who was ASS
>>
>>219096712
No I liked it, it just became a meme on /tv/ because they hate the lead actress

>it totally doesn't matter that the main character of the film is an embarrassingly dogshit actress and like 1/4th of the entire film is dedicated to her pathetic goofy unconvincing freakouts
Coppola Dracula is overrated though
>>
>>219096712
The film is great on a technical level but I didn't like Orlok, just didn't have that vampire vibe to me
>>
>>219097844
Do you have fits often enough to judge someone's seizure performance or are you just easily uncomfortable/mentally immature?
>>
>>219096712
The only thing I didn't like and that stuck out for me is the farewell scene between Hutter and Non-Helsing where he goes
>You know, if you lived before Christianity, your epileptic shit fits of possession would've made you a priestess of great renown, but alas, in this modern patriarchal world, you are bait to be sacrificed to quell the evil, no other way. Ride him, ride him good until the sunlight. Don't tell your husband.
Not what he said but clearly what was being communicated when it comes to the brass tacks.

My entire family is healthcare workers, I've seen plenty of seizures, and even if I HADN'T its 2026 and people can just look up what seizures look like on the internet. It doesn't even need to look like a convincing seizure, I don't care about that, but this shit looked fucking retarded.
>>
>>219097964
It's the same thing that happens in the original, the only difference is she's naked
>>
>>219098037
Are seizures supposed to look epic and cool like in real life? I thought they were involuntary spasms

>one scene of Lily-Rose Depp being cringe and try to invalidate the entire film off of it.
She's the main character and she's cringe throughout the whole movie. Her character's whole "I know my truth" thing was extremely annoying.
I think the movie is good, but she drags it down significantly
>>
>>219097964
That was a great speech. Sure, in some cultures epilepsy was treated as prophetic, but he wasn't saying pre-Christian bad. It's an old sentiment that we progressed much, despite all advances in technology. Also, Count Orlok just wants his penis wet; if it stops him killing, then two birds one stone. Fuck yeah she rode him. Tell me she didn't need it.
>>
>>219098219
It's a callback to how the gypsies spot and kill a vampire and the book chapter where even though vampires are walking corpses kept alive by evil, Satanic pacts and blood they're very easily enticed
>>
>>219096802
I was really impressed with this scene, and it breaks /tv/s brain
>>
>>219096712
Whore saves the World. Yass Queen.
It was so retarded that this feminist cuck shit >>219097964 need to make even a victim of rape actually WANT to be raped.
>>
>>219098094
There's a ton of variety to seizures, some are so subtle that you, and even the person having them, might not even notice it happening. Realism isn't the point though, if the seizures were realistically depicted as Ellen freezing in place for a few seconds and pissing herself before waking up disoriented and confused I'd think that was stupid and gay as well
>>
>>219098037
>I've seen plenty of seizures
But these are not just seizures, these are the seizures caused by Orlok possession. Do you apply the acting judgment to Exorcist?
>Silly Linda Blair, that's not how psychoses looks like. Boomers really ate this cringe up?
And I'm not saying that she didn't ham her scenes up, but the freak-off with constant mood swings was clearly to make you question if she is succumbing to Orlok's dream dick.
>>
>>219098524
So you're just immature
>>
>>219098037
Why are you talking about seizures when they're not actual seizures?
>>
>>219098096
>give a cunny such good dick that she becomes mindbroken to your very presence and you die in each others' arms during one final act of fornication
ZAMN Orlok, I didnt know your game nigga
>>
>>219098885
There was a thread a couple of days ago that posed that Adjani's subway miscarriage in The Possession was not "realistic," as if what was shown was supposed to be an actual, honest-to-God miscarriage. You have to be on the lookout for people on this board who consumed the movie through YouTube clips. And that's the best-case scenario. Sometimes it's just through freezeframes of the scenes posted on /tv/. How do you think "IM ACTING" threads even came about?
>>
AHHHHH THIS HIDEOUS MONSTER RAPED ME BUT HIS BALLS TOUCHED MY CLIT AND NOW IM GONNA AHEGAO AHHHH FAREWELL MY HUSBAND THIS ZOMBIE DICK IS SO GOOD I HAVE TO DIE FOR IT NOW I NEED TO MAKE OUT WITH THIS DECAYING MONSTER OH GOD HIS SPIT TASTES LIKE MY VAGINA IM SO HORNY AIIIEEEE I HATE THIS NO I DONT

>>219098885
IT LOOKS STUPID
I DONT GIVE A FUCK WHAT THE JUSTIFICATION IS
LOOKING STUPID AND TAKING YOU OUT OF THE MOVIE IS BAD
>>
>>219096712
Like every iteration of this story, the first part up to leaving the castle is really good. Then it takes a serious drop in quality
>>
>>219098219
>That was a great speech
