No big arcs or mysteries, no saving the world, just picaresque adventures of him and maybe the occasional tagalongs (but never a full on continuing cast) as he scampers across the world. Fill it with all the old school trope villains and allies and scoundrels. Of course if they did make it now, it would exactly the opposite: ongoing "diverse" gang, big world-threatening mystery, modern politics, safe-edgy, etc.
