It doesn’t always hold together perfectly - the background art is all over the place from beautiful and painterly to phototextured garbage, and there’s definitely some 3D in there to cut costs but it was refreshing to see someone at least trying. I feel like the last time I saw someone go for it like that was probably Megalo Box.
Imagine being so filtered by a digital gradient that you lose the ability to follow a 20-minute plot without leaking spit on yourself. The 'scifi ghetto' never died, it just moved into your nostalgia-blinded cope.
