I don’t even mind when you have black characters who are just normal people but when you have da yung strawng POWAFUL black woman who is just a complete pill to everyone and condescending as shit and then whoa omg she was right she really showed those old crotchety detectives who have been on the force for decades a piece a thing or two with her brilliance, I mean fucking hell it’s just egregious. I can suspend my disbelief but it’s pretty outlandish.
To be fair that’s actually a big part of what I liked about how White Lotus treats that fat black masseuse character as in yeah she has her clever moments and whatnot but she’s portrayed more as conniving and willing to betray her morals to further her own agenda as well as being fairly ignorant of the danger she’s putting herself in because she sees herself as some queen bitch boss getting it done. All the while we as the audience know she’s in over her head and one wrong move from getting herself and her son murdered in a third world country where nothing will happen because nobody is gonna give a shit.

I could never even bring myself to get mad, just exhausted but then again I never stuck with any movie or show that was very obviously just raceb8.
