Both anime have a generic art style. They look like other series from the same era. The unoriginal character design does not help.Now compare that to how Final Fantasy (pic related) looks, it has a distinct art style and distinct character design.Frieren and Violet Evergarden look like soulless, cookie-cutter slop in comparison.

>>219128938Frieren is at it´s best when it´s stand alone adventures to earn journey money or useless grimoires though. Albeit to be more precise, focusing on these moments make the other moments feel more intense (provided there is proper build up). I wouldn´t necessary call it kino, at least not until it´s finished, but it is more enjoyable than most contemporary anime and hollywood shows.

I tried giving frieren a while ago. the characters become even more one dimensional if you know what the names translate to. nothing really happens. frieren beats the demon king with her party 80 years before the events of the story and now has a new party where they just wander around the world and vaporize any enemies that come across them (since they are max level). frieren is your typical animeshit video-game story, but it tries to be deep than another harem self-insert animeit's like japan refuses to create something new. and this was supposedly the new hit show that will shape the genre for the next few decades.I almost pity weebs for they are poor in options, both visually and storytelling wise. then I remember what dogshit opinions they spread on the internet and that feeling goes away
