Most of what I believed about Mozart came from the Simpsons. Unironically thought Salieri was Mozarts sister for the longest time.
Also thought he mostly wrote songs about farting.

What misconceptions did you get from watching the simpsons?

I thought the Coriolis effect actually affected toilets.

Agreed. The modern world is already drowning in insincerity as it is.

I swear, whenever I see a thread like this, I can't actually think of the thing, it will probably come up randomly in my head in a week.

I always used to think Ramadan happened around Christmas because of this bit and didn't realise it moved.

They do. Or at least they used to, not sure if they still do though. But Japan had a fucking insane game show (I think it was called Za Gaman?) where they did all sorts of crazy shit to the contestants, like stripping them down to their underwear, covering their skin with bird seeds and having chickens peck the seeds (for example).

It is generally thought that he might have slipped a few scat jokes in some of his pieces but not that many, we know from his personal lettres he enjoyed that kind of humor

I thought the coriolis effect was a real thing because of the australia episode

I thought Kwanza was a real holiday people actually celebrated outside of a few blacks in America thanks to Simpsons and Futurama.

The Coriolis effect has to do more with the fact that things along the equator move faster relative to like the north pole. I dont even know how it got to be about toilets or water

I thought it's funny thing to say to make fun of Australians. Then I found out the dingo really ate the baby and the parents spend years in prison for murder.

In the episode where Homer and Apu sneak out Apu's children from the zoo a monkey wants them to take her child too and Homer says: "nah, we already have enough monkeys"
And I always wondered how could The Simpsons get away with being so racist. Then I found out the line doesn't exist in the original version and it was only added by racist translators in my country.

In the same country I shall not name the "operation get behind the darkies" in the South Park movie was translated as "hide behind the niggers"
