Can you blame her? she was given a main character role in a very well known franchise, and the payment was likely good too, and all this during a time she was a completely unknown actress in the world scene
She probably thought this would catapult her to stardom (and it a way, it did put her on the map at the very least)

This. Also, consider what she knew when she signed on:

> Main character of a new star wars trilogy, when basically everyone who has so much as touched star wars in the previous 2 trilogies has gone on to have very successful careers
> first movie is being handled by JJ Abrams, a well known director that might not do anything groundbreaking but consistently delivers a decent enough product to be popular

She wouldn't have had any details on episodes 8 and 9 yet when she signed on, because nobody had planned that far ahead at that point. Which we know now was a red flag, but from her perspective that wasn't her problem.
Daisy made the right call, and frankly despite being the face of that doomed trilogy none of the reasons why it was bad were her fault. Its not like she gave a bad performance or anything, the writing and the direction was dogshit. But Rey and Kylo Ren were basically the only parts of those shit movies that *worked*, so they came out of that mess smelling like roses.

So the sequel trilogy is obviously dogshit and has sort of poisoned the well on that entire section of the timeline. But until they find some way to fix it, the franchise is doomed into being stuck in prequel and interquel shit forever, mining nostalgia in an endless spiral with nowhere to go.

How would you save the sequel timeline era? Make Star Wars good again and give it a future to play with?

Go Legacy on Star Wars's ass. Set it 500 years in the future and don't mention any past events.

it is fascinating that star wars is basically dead after having been relevant in pop culture for decades. a new movie starring the main lead of the sequels is being teased, and nobody gives a fuck at all. imagine if a new movie starring Luke or Anakin were slated for release 5 years or so after Return of the Jedi or Revenge of the Sith. the actors would be getting constantly hounded about literally anything at all concerning the movie before the fucking thing even had a tentative date to start filming. a new Rey movie though? eh, whatever, ask a question during some unrelated interview

The same way that the prequel trilogy was salvaged despite people being harsh on them when they came out: build around it.

The sequel trilogy is absolutely worse than the prequels were, by a lot, but the same trick can work. A big problem with the sequels is that they refuse to explain what the actual scale of the conflict or or what the state of the galaxy overall even remotely looks like. The moment you get more than about 10 ft from the main characters, we have NO IDEA what the fuck is going on anywhere else in the galaxy. Not even by implication.
We can use that. Start some new show that begins before the events of episode 7, but set elsewhere in the galaxy, and you see general references to the First Order doing shit on the fringes in the background but thats not important to whats going on in the story. Its treated as them being just another lame group of imperial remnants causing trouble.
And then, suddenly, the capital of the New Republic gets vaporized by Starkiller Base, and the status quo of the show gets thrown in chaos as the entire galaxy starts falling apart in the wake of the calamity.
Basically just focus this new show on establishing what the ACTUAL sequel era looks like, exclusively from the perspective of people who don't even know that Rey exists and only know about Kylo Ren because he took credit for the terrorist attack that wiped out a whole star system. The events of the movies influence the ongoing story in this new show, but we never direct connect with them. Beyond the destruction of the New Republic capital (which we actually SEE before it gets blown up in this show) the events of the movies are treated mostly as a regional conflict that no one else is following that closely because everyone else has their own problems.

By the end of this first show, you should have more than enough material to do further spinoffs of build off of, and from there you can start to connect dots back to characters like Rey if you want.

Sadly this is not unique. Star Trek is also basically dead, they allowed Discovery to fucking kill the franchise with its 'The Burn' bullshit which wiped out the future of the franchise in a way they can't fix without using time travel to retcon away multiple shows now.

Even the MCU, a former juggernaut franchise that seemed unstoppable, is basically dead in that nobody is exciting about anything new announced for it anymore.

These companies that treated these franchises as perpetual licenses to print money all fucked with the formulas too much in their drive to make more, always more, more now now more now, and have left nothing but wasteland in their wake where once stood lush forests.

How can she even establish anything? Luke had a direct connection to the Prequels and the Jedi knowledge in them via Obi-Wan, Yoda and Anakin. Rey has nothing. The sAcReD jEdI tExTs burnt up. She wasn't even born until 11 years after Episode VI, 34 years after Order 66. How the FUCK does she even know what a Jedi is meant to be besides "person that has a lightsaber and doesn't wanna do meanie evil things"? It's like asking a janitor to restart the United States federal government after a zombie apocalypse. Where the fuck do you even start from.

And even if the stars and planets across three different galaxies align and they somehow make a good movie that's genuinely better written than Andor and Rey becomes overnight a genuinely well done character, the point remains that Luke should've rebuilt the Jedi, and nobody will ever care about a post-"somehow Palpatine returned" universe.

The books didn’t burn, you see them in the Falcon at the end of Last Jedi, Rey took them before Yoda burned the three

You see Rey again with books in Rise of Skywalker
>>
>>219142120
Its bad, anon. Its real bad.

So basically 'the burn' was a thing that happened like season 3 of Star Trek discovery, and its a major in-universe disaster. A child got mad, and for reasons that made every warp core in the universe explode like a giant nuclear bomb because they screamed too hard. The reasons are stupid and not important. But this means that every starship explodes, including the ones that were on the ground at the time, basically eradicating all space travel and bombing every civilization in the setting back into the stone age for centuries, completely wiping out the Federation. Star Trek, as a setting that you would ever recognize as such, *literally* does not exist anymore. Optimistic space future got erased by some bullshit that would be considered hack writing even in cape comics, but unlike in cape comics there is no rollback to status quo we are just expected to deal with it forever now. They are even making shows set after the burn now, like the current Starfleet Academy, which isn't even about the starfleet academy you think it is but 1000 years later them trying to reboot the *idea* of starfleet academy from scratch despite the federation not having existed for a millenium.

Everything you ever liked about Star Trek is gone.

This is why they should have actually stuck with the themes in The Last Jedi instead of wimping out on them: let the ideas of the jedi and the sith die, and some new path of force users arises to fill the void instead of endlessly trying to recreate the path with less and less information than last time.

They would NEVER EVER do what I'd ask them to do. Didn't Diloni introduce The World Between Worlds to time travel save his precious Ahsoka? Well, use it to retcon the ST in-universe. Great idea! I've just run it past the story team and they're super keen! Just a few small changes to make it flow a bit better and appeal to our core demographics
>the title is now: The Skywalker Temple
>Rey goes to planet Brendok to slaughter the Mandalorians who have brainwashed the Nightsisters of Dathomir (the Nightsisters are actually good and misunderstood)
>She befriends Grogu, baby-Yoda making a cameo who's now way stronger with the force (fans love a good reference), who tells her stories of Luke and Han's adventures
>She then runs into who else but Ahsoka! Ahsoka tells her that she must rebuild the jedi temple and this time do it right, the way that Luke couldn't
>Luke's force ghost then appears and tells her that he has no advice to give her because he did such a bad job
>Rey forgives him and builds a flourishing jedi temple in Leia's honour
>Grogu gets up to some crazy hijinks!
>And darth dweebus shows up and Rey has to fight him or something
So much brand potential!

Her character is the last Jedi alive after the Sequel trilogy. Star Wars has no future without showing her starting a new jedi school. This is why Ray's story will never be interesting. I am not a incel misogynist that want to see women being hurt, but when you put rules in story telling that the main character cannot be shown being physically harmed because of her gender, its a form of plot armor that makes good story-telling impossible.
