>>219148239Here's the thing: we don't get a great steampunk film because people are pedantic about what constitutes steampunk. The Iron Giant is 'nuke-punk', Atlantis is 'dieselpunk' and Miyazaki movies are dropped for being japanese. On the other hand, technically Back to the Future III is a great steampunk movie in the technical sense, so that kind of movie is always halfway in existence.

I used to work at a renaissance fair and the insufferable steampunk fags were always the bottom of the pecking order with their little brass valves and eyepieces and unconvincing fake british accents. Even the furries and the vampires looked down on them.
