>>219173104It's meant to be goofy, you dolt. Nips mogged kimchi here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YkyzNk-UJ4o
>>219174130If it’s just goofy why is the same tone a flaw when it’s a Kdrama but a strength when it’s a Japanese co-production?
>>219174130“goofy” is basically a selective shield. Applied to things (Japan) you like it becomes charm. Applied to things (Korea) you don’t like it becomes a flaw. So when a Kdrama leans into heightened emotion or stylization it’s “too much”, but when something Japanese-adjacent does similar it’s “intentional,” “quirky,” “self-aware”.
>japanese are really bad guyswhat did japanese kdramas mean by this?
white truck-kun returns home from his stay in korea, but he still hungers for koreans

>>219175832no they love her she is on the front lines of colonizing japan
>>219173181this but method acting in the united states
why are japanese women like this?
>>219176472But not every western actor does method acting (actually very few do), and it doesn't typify the way western acting looks and feels to the viewer. I think the difference is just cultural. Fwiw I am able to enjoy japanese and Korean films and kdramas as a westerner and, while I do think the acting is exaggerated or overdone a lot of the time, there are other contexts or genres beyond self-serious, small scale drama where I think it's perfect. And there are some great Korean and Japanese actors as well.
>>219176828I meant more the muted style of modern american prestige television and films. Anything that even slightly deviates from that is labeled as bad here.

>therapist likes the same man as her client >her other client likes the same guy>her other other client likes the the girl that likes the guy she likestalk about conflict of interest
>>219173104That's not really an acting issue, is it? The situation is inherently silly, but they're not doing a bad job of looking shocked in slow motion.
>>219181758weebs coming out of the woodwork to defend this jdrama when they never give kdramas the same charitability.
>>219181875meds
