A boat (on the water). Find an oil rig or just some rocks protruding from the water to tie your boat to, and you can sleep/exist in complete peace.
Venture to the mainland only when you need supplies.
Though you'd probably go insane from the isolation and confinement

I do love Savini’s Living Dead where, like anyone who’s ever watched a zombie movie, the point is raised of “hey let’s just fucking run” and that’s actually the winning option.

The problem with any answer is that if it follows the Walking Dead rules i..e. no bite necessary, any death results in zombie, then you are going to be fucked once someone dies without being noticed inside whatever you chose to hole up in.

The problem is that the zombies from TWD are straight up magical, they don't need food, water, air or anything, they can walk forever and roam in groups of millions, even the stuff about them rotting away was dropped pretty quick by Kirkman.
Even if you are in a safe place they can never get in, they'll end up surrouding you at some point, and your only hope is for something to distract and take them away.

Somewhere in the arctic or at least very cold like Northern Canada. Assuming the zombies aren't magical, they would die from exposure before they could reach you. Then the challenge is just surviving the cold yourself. Snow for water, ice fishing for food, fire for heat. I reckon you'd only need to last like 10 years to be sure that all the zombies have starved to death, lacking any non-zombified humans left to consume.

no refuge needed. being mobile is always the best choice.

literally just get some long sleeved biker gear, good boots, gloves, and a full helmet.

human teeth cant chew through leather.

and a long kitchen knife as a weapon. if they dogpile you, you just start stabbing them in the eye. as a secondary weapon get a spear.
if they keep coming, get to high ground, like on top of a truck or some tree and funnel them one by one and stab them with the spear. handling a spear literally takes no training. you can easily kill dozens of them before you get tired out

I like that the World War Z book explained that it was the wannabe Rambo's, traffic accidents, suicides, looting, civil unrest, law enforcement/first responders/medical/military personnel abandoning their posts that killed more people at the beginning than anything the zombies could have done, and with each unrelated death, their numbers grew.

You faggots have no room to complain any more as the real military showed just how retarded they are. Drones have been a thing for half a decade, with tens of thousands of videos showing exactly how deadly they are, then hey, let's attack Iran and not having anything counter-drone whatsoever exceot billion dollar systems are run out of expensive ammo fast and are easily droned! You are 50 IQ for not understanding what Brooks was telling you. The military is dumb, slow and always fighting the last war. They take a long while to change and no one knows what a zombie is. >The general panic, civil unrest, overwhelmed rescue/medical services, and law enforcement/military abandoning their posts to be with their families en masse led to more deaths in the initial "Great Panic" than the zombies ever did
>What remains is left dealing with a complete breakdown of infrastructure and supply lines, civil unrest, complete economic collapse, open rebellion from any number of militia/terrorist/activist groups seeing this as their time to strike, a highly volatile pandemic spreading by the minute, and an ever-growing insurgency of relentless ghouls that do not rest, is incapable of surrender, and can only be put down with a shot to the head

Depends if it's a long term or short term thing. You could pretty easily survive on a random store's roof with some supplies for a few weeks and that would cover most zombie apocalypses. But if it's something very permanent, like 28 Years Later, you would need some way to actually grow food to best survive.

a couple of things:

- why is this shit getting an live action adaptation for? zombies aren't real. rape, murder and pedophilia already does
- no normie is gonna stick around for this level of edgy, nihilistic shock value form of entertainment
- the zombie craze is practically dead at this point (TLOU notwithstanding)
- you know they're gonna omit and/or sanitize like 75% of it just to get it passed through (which begs the question of why even bother adapting it?)

I always thought that writers were missing the boat by not making a story that revolved around a military unit that *didn’t break down. I get the point about losing people who leave to go look for family, but that wouldn’t really apply to local Reserve and National Guard units.
>>
>>219194896
>>219180858
Which I don't really understand because most families live on military bases with the soldier. Which should provide an even bigger incentive. I mean the bulk of the military is going to be 18-25 year olds with mostly no wives our children as well.

Right. That’s exactly why I stressed reserve units. 18-25yo military are frequently stationed places where their family/friends are states away. I get why you’d see monstrous amounts of attrition and outright mutiny in active military units, but the reserve guys are a bit different. You could actually build a good story out of those guys trying to take a base while the personnel staffing the base are slowly coming unglued under a CO who’s dead set on keeping them there.

>On the territory of Bouvet Island, that is a part of the Republic of South Africa, has placed a demolished test site established by Israel. When the test site was built the world didn’t have any official information about test operations. In September 1979, specialists saw an explosion on the territory of the RSA. The explosion looked like nuclear. Today researchers and political analysts think that the deal between Israel and the RSA about the realization of the nuclear test was made secretly.

>Israel came into possession the island that was ideal for nuclear tests. In return, he gave an inestimable information about the nuclear workouts. Notwithstanding that it is not a secret that Bouvet Island was used for nuclear tests, Israel isn’t still in a list of nuclear-weapon state. This country tried to secretly make the first tests in 1977. At this time in the Kalahari Desert were made special underground tunnels.

>This endeavour to test the nuclear weapon wasn’t successful. The reason was covered in the USSR satellites, they clamped the illegal preparations. When the operation has broken, Israel asked help from the Republic of South Africa. This time the secret operation was prepared thoroughly. Until now we don’t have any official documents about the nuclear tests on this territory. However, specialists don’t recommend to visit Bouvet Island. Its territory still has a high level of radiation.

I'd just go to a nice comfy island somewhere on the mediterranean. Maybe on the Ionian or Aegean sea. Just pick a small island with no or extremely low population, clear it and make it into your little paradise.
>b-but what will you eat
fishe before I start farming
>b-but what will you drink
if there is no water, just collect the rainwater and desalinate the sea water

>farming and desalinating on a tiny rock island

It would be your little hell if anything
>>
>>219201289
desalinating for a single person use would be very easy, you just need to boil the water
as for farming, depends on the island you pick, but some crops like potatoes grow even on the shittiest land imaginable, so it shouldn't be an issue

How much farming have you actually done?

then you go to a depot. A few years ago I worked a job installing and maintaining security systems, cameras, motions detectors etc, one place that hired us to install dozens of cameras was one of those supply warehouses for restaurants and supermarkets, they are stocked up with thousands of crates of food, drink, basic pharmaceutics, cleaning products and other things. If you can find a way to isolate a portion of the warehouse's electricals and power that with a generator or solar panels you'd be able to live in there for a long time. It just looks like any other warehouse from the outside and the whole complex is already fenced in. There isn't any place in the world that has all the supplies necessary that won't have some risk but this one is at least only known about by suppliers and buyers, not the general public, it's where I'd go.

Potatoes would rot quick on an island unless you've already built an appropriate storage area in advance, they're also prone to various problems like any other plant, just the salt pushed in by sea breezes alone could potentially fuck it up, where are you going to get the water for your plants? Unless you stock up on stupid amount of fuel you'll be spending your days cutting wood for that. This plan only works if you've spent a small fortune and a year on prepping the place in advance. Even Mauro Morandi had food brought in because he couldn't preserve what he caught, there are accounts of people surviving a few years on lucky islands but not a decade iirc, not on a small island anyway.

A normal human can bite with 162 PSI
This is heavily limited by our ability to feel pain - a zombie could theoretically exert much more force
Sure, the teeth won't break the leather, but the sheer force will leave you extremely bruised and potentially even break something if they get a joint
A kitchen knife is not a reliable weapon for multiple assailants, it will either get stuck or break. An actual dagger (or better yet, a trench knife) would be viable though

>if they dogpile you
If you get dogpiled you are FUCKED. The average man weighs around 80kg (and depending where you live it'll likely be more than that) and even if you're built like fucking Prime Arnie, if you're flat on your back with 10 dudes on top of you, you aren't going anywhere
>>
>>219201769
Selkirk would be the closest, he survived on lobsters, goats and wild turnips. Farming is just a bad idea if you're alone

yeah, although those were pretty big islands with no real harsh winters and easy hunting/fishing, good rainfall as well. The problem today would be that most good, accessible islands probably have people on them, small islans like those that millionaires have aren't sustainable long term and big islands will be full of billionaires and their friends. That's why I like my warehouse plan better because it is feasible for someone with little prep time or money.

Doesnt TWD have this as one of the final antagonists? Forgot the details but it's a special forces/ mercenary group that just stuck together when shit hit the fan. Of course they go full retard when encountering the protag group but it's something

Best refuge would be reality, where zombie attacks can't happen.

I would hide in the cheese caves beneath Kansas City and eat luxury European cheeses.
>>
>>219201373
Well I have planted and gathered potatoes at least, it's easy enough, they really don't require much care.
>>219201769
You can easily store potatoes for a full year in a cool place.
But yeah, I guess it would be best to pick an island large enough to have its own source of potable water.

There's a crossed story about that, they all die in the end

Yep. A quality tree house with a rope ladder is peak.

Yes and they'll make him into a MAGA redneck who only does it because he believes in the silly sky wizard, while the wise black man escapes, shaking his head while looking on.
