She screwed her career and I kind of feel sorry for her (just a little bit)
She didn't have the patience to stick with the show a show/ franchise with a huge loyal fan base and proven track record. Instead she decided to leave it since it wasn't instantly great
Then spends the next several seasons trying to make a comeback onto the show and career trying to leach off the series

They should have brought back her sister instead
>>
patrick stewart's agent also tried to get him to quit, it wasn't an uncommon thing after that first season
she was retarded for having them straight up kill her character. Gates McFadden also quit but was able to come back since her character wasn't fucking dead
>>
>>219178103
Whose screentime would have suffered the most if she stayed?
>>
>>219178211
Gates McFadden got fired. They brought her back because the rest of the cast hated polaski and wouldn't stop bitching.
>>
>>219178217
Worf I assume
>>
>>219178217
well worf wouldnt have been promoted
>>
>>219178237
right I forgot, she had a lot of animosity with the lead writer tho
>>
>>219178252
Worf and Geordi didn't even have yellow shirts in the first season. The writers had no idea what to do with half the characters. Geordi got promoted two ranks and made the chief engineer and they never said anything about it.

I read that michelle forbes was supposed to be the star of DS9. Imagine if we got her instead of Sisko. Though I bet she'd just have replaced Kira.
>>
>>219182072
He looks just like that one gangbanged ex-tranny
>>
>>219178103
Didn't she try to pivot to movies? Or was it really just because the first season wasn't good?
>>
>>219182490
both
>>
>>219182436
sorry man, don't keep an active mental list of a bunch of gross freaks.
>>
>>219182635
A lot of actors try that and most of the time it doesn't work. The guy who played Dario in GoT decided playing Agent 47 in some dogshit Hitman movie qas the better choice than coming back for the next season.
>>
>>219178237
shame, I actually really liked Polaski and her interactions with the crew
>>
Denise Crosby came from a pretty famous entertainment family. Bing Crosby wasn't a huge global superstar or anything, but Denise was from some money and didn't have to work to eat.
The poor working conditions and questionable material probably made jumping ship seem reasonable. And the head producer guy was probably trying to cram his dick in her mouth
>>
>>219182916
They should have let her die in that aging episode. I thought it was cool that Tasha died when I first saw it because I felt like characters could die but they never killed off anyone again really, not even redshirts.
>>
>>219178835
>What a bush
no one in /trek/ ever told me about these...
>>
>>219183019
if she had died they could have also given random actors a vacation by having them get injured and have to be shipped off to a medical station for a week and given the show more of the edge the original had. I like this idea
>>
>>219178179
Somebody shooped his pupils right? I feel like I would have noticed blocking this funny when I was watching
>>
>>219182404
She's definitely an early kira draft, not the commander
>>
>>219182953
Rick Berman was a a sick fuck from what I recall
>>
>>219183317
Just let me dream of a world where I don't have to watch Sisko act.
>>
>>219182404
Too bad really. Forbes can actually act and Ro was easily the best female character of TNG despite having only a handful of appearances.
>>
who was the kind of paula abdul lookin chick that spilled on gene luck pickerd. was she in only 2 episodes? i don't know what happened with the actress
>>
>>219178103
I've had this thought before but to be fair, she's had steady work ever since then with a million guest appearances in various shows and some recurring roles as well. She's also way more a part of the TNG mythos than almost any other 1 season regular is for any other show. So all things considered, her career turned out fine. Definitely better than 99.99% of people that try to make it as an actor.
>>
>>219178103
I thought you were talking about the character at first. Which now makes me think if the way Sela was written was in part a joke from the writers on Crosby leaving the show.
>>
>>219182953
I forget sometimes her grandfather was thst guy. You still hear his music regularly around Christmas time which is way more relevance than most singers from the 1940's still have
>>
>>219183374
how dare you he completely sold me as a mentally ill histrionic clown who runs from his mistakes and changes his moral compass every month
>>
>>219183714
So Sisko WAS supposed to a women?
>>
>>219182404
This bitch really wouldn't commit to Trek just because she didn't want to be tied down and wanted a more varied acting career but I bet most people don't remember her from her non sci-fi roles
>>
>>219182953
Can you blame him?
>>
>>219183714
The first episode is insane. It's like he was never asked to audition or they never asked him to emote in them besides speaking flatly. There aren't a lot of other episodes I remember where he has to act emotional but my god it's the first episode. It's like he was an Italian Spiderman extra.

lol troi is the worst part of the show by a country mile.
>a bunch of retarded ferengi jump around screaming "i'm greedy and lying!"
>troi: i get the sense that they're greedy and lying.

not to mention every situation when they just decide not to use her powers.
>>
>>219178103
Anon, butterfly effect!
If she stayed there is no guarantee the show would succeed. Indeed it was probably the trimming of the cast that allowed it to soar.
>>
>>219184177
That and Gene Roddenberry dying. Star Trek would likely have been considerably worse if he had still been alive throughout the 90's
>>
>>219183926
I've tried to watch DS9 3 times, one of which I just skipped to the dominion war arc. I simply could not endure his acting. He is atrocious. Godawful. Just unbearable. I've never dropped a show because of a single actor in my life. It really sucks cause I love that era of Trek but I can't do it.
>>
>career dies

Being an actress was tough in the 80s and 90s

I always think Sisko sounds like he’s a smooth operator trying to seduce a girl in a jazz club. Especially when he’s talking to his son.

Gene Roddenberry died in season 5. TNG was already a classic in seasons 3 and 4.
>>
>>219184520
He's fine in most scenes because he's an emotionally-compromised widower, but the problems arise when he's supposed to be angry and instead he talks like he's parodying a gospel preacher. He's the same way in American History X so I guess he's just not good at acting angry
>>
>>219183132
/trek/ is a general for pedophiles. There's a reason their mascot is Neelix.
>>
>>219185033
Ironically pedophiles tend to like Star-Trek for some reason
>>
>>219184929
Roddenberry was ill during seasons 3 and 4 and had barely any involvement. Michael Piller coming on board is what really propelled it into greatness. Gene was preventing writers from creating stories where there was character conflict because he thought society would move past such petty things in the future. You can imagine how complete dogshit the rest of the show would be if they had had to stick to that past season 1.

That was a trend mostly in the 00s. it’s because when the police catch people on cp it’s an internet crime involving people who have enough internet intelligence to find the honeypots, ie nerds. Nerds liked trek. And the most withdrawn nerds are likely withdrawn because their preferences don’t jive with society, and the more withdrawn you are from society the more time you have to be an even bigger fan of something. Bingo bango.

Im sure now its trooncore and anime stuff.
>>
>>219178103
I think if she stayed on the show would have suffered
cast was still a bit too large even after she left
I mean, logistically they didn't even have to replace her, they just gave all her duties to worf

TNG Season 1 was pretty shitty to work on, Rick Berman was a notorious penny pincher. They had to steal food from bigger shows just to eat.
>>
>>219185577
I like 90s Trek but the pedo allegations have an element of truth to them. Look at Neelix and 3 year old Kes. Look at Seven of Nine - she was assimilated at 6 years old so her mental maturation stopped. Then she's freed from the Borg, leaving her as a 6 year old girl in a grown woman's turbo slut body. Look at Keiko being reverted to a child but still wanting O'Brien's Big Irish Cock. The first season of Picard had a woman getting fucked by a guy but she finds out later that she's an android and she's actually 3 years old. There's no shortage of dodgy shit like this. The writers need their hard drives checked.

None of this is particularly untoward, only someone with pedo OCD or childless 30-something woman would think otherwise.

My head canon is she is the reason why no one is traumatized episode to episode for the most part after going through all the crazy shit we see, but we just don't get to see her sexy psychic therapy sessions. Because god damn they've been through a lot.
>>
>>219183926
He was playing a bitter, burnt out, widower/single father who just got deployed to bumfuck nowhere and who was so fucking mad at life he essentially told his commanding officer (Picard) to go fuck himself.
What the fuck did you want Brooks to do, giggle?
>>
>>219187167
whichever one you like the most
>>
>>219178103
The show was awful when she left and she wasn't getting major play. She didn't really screw her career so much as she missed out on a lot of royalty checks.
>>
>>219187207
They literally commit suicide every time they tp. They must be a little callous to it all
>>
>>219185577
>trooncore and anime stuff.

Fun fact tons if people working on Star Trek were massive fucking weeaboos. Urusei Yatsura, Gunbuster, Nadia, Dirty Pair references are hidden everywhere in the set designs and details. Like Nadion is what makes phasers work. They used plamo for props like Orguss'backpack is on the bottom of the Stargazer

Also all these anime are actually good because 80s mecha anime was amazing and everything now is shit.
>>
>>219184152
She was eye candy, incel.
>>
>>219187263
Not really there are so many good episodes where Picard gets mindfucked and he was still fucked up about being assimilated. And Beverly should have gotten therapy for jerking to her grandma's diary...

Forbes was excellent as the Pegasus captain / admiral in BSG.
Some actors are just better when they are able to camp it up in sci-fi. Look at Walter Koenig in Babylon 5. The man stole every episode he was in.
>>
>>219187418
Star Trek is pleb tier scifi so it fits well

I don't get the troon shit though I just wanted to talk about anime. fucking christ they're worse than those tape worms that climb up your piss stream into your urethra in the amazon.
