The optimistic idea at the end that when they realize their tech is going to destroy society, they willingly shut it down.

First season captures Silicon Valley before it got conquered by Indians and trans. It also is pretty funny and close to millennial hope core.

Anon the joke was that everybody besides Richard (and Jared) stole the Pied Piper software and used it to achieve wealth and success. That’s why Monica was in the NSA and Gilfoy/Dinesh had a cybersecurity firm

was this the last really good hbo show?

Chair Company from this year was pretty good but most anons flat out refuses to give it a chance whatsoever and base their opinion on it from assumptions rather than seeing it because they don’t like Tim Robinsons sketch show, which it’s nothing like. I'm not gonna effort post this early in the morning oracle and tons of other push through organizations import tons of h1b visas to high paying american jobs with deliberately unqualified foreigners by giving them fake degrees. the signing company and oracle or any number of subsidiaries or similar organizations pockets the difference between the actual pay rate and hire 5 or more entry level workers to fulfill the role saying they could not find a qualified American for the position. Then they get American college grads at minimum wage in junior positions to clean up what the 5 usually far more tards made a mess of and continue the process. I know you don't do your homework and wont bother to look up anything regarding how H1B abuse is done so fuck it I'm copy and pasting results

Recent investigations and government reports indicate that H-1B visa abuse in the tech industry is widespread, primarily driven by outsourcing firms that systematically underpay foreign workers and displace American employees. Data from 2022 and early 2023 shows that the top 30 H-1B employers hired 34,000 new workers while simultaneously laying off at least 85,000 workers, highlighting a pattern where firms exploit the program to reduce labor costs rather than fill genuine skill shortages.

Key Patterns of Abuse
Wage Theft and Suppression: Corporate documents reveal that firms like HCL, Cognizant, and Infosys often pay H-1B workers significantly less than their U.S. counterparts; for example, HCL paid H-1B Oracle experts $55,000 less annually than U.S. citizens in similar roles.

Regulatory Loopholes: Outsourcing companies exploit a Department of Labor interpretation that treats contractor-hired H-1B workers differently from direct hires, allowing them to evade wage rules designed to protect U.S. labor.

TJ Miller had a pretty serious brain aneurysm that went untreated for a long time because it happened during the filming of Yogi Bear out in the woods where he was acting alongside a tennis ball on a tripod and Anna Farris who at the time was having a complete dissociative meltdown of her own so nobody really paid much attention until it got real weird.

>Now the Silicon Valley dream is dead.
You mean the "dream" where women and minorishits were hired in mass who literally did nothing except attend meetings and eat all day? And were paid 6 figures to do so?
>>
>>219206850
Uh huh, right, because all the white male nerds in Silicon Valley were doing so much important stuff that is so important for society and totally weren’t doing the same shit that browns and holes do.

Can someone tell me if there’s a more insufferable industry than tech? An industry filled with more insufferable reprehensible people? If there is I honestly cannot imagine it. These are the lowest scum

They are bad but I do t think there’s a group that is up their own ass about how important and rich they are while providing very little actual value to the world moreso than tech faggots
>>
>>219207622
Oh, there is one group that can rival them. Journalists. They legitimately believe they are freedom fighters and a vital cornerstone in a “free” society when in reality they are the arm of the totalitarian state.
So in terms of being up their own ass for importance when it couldn’t be further from the truth. I guess only difference is journalists don’t make much money compared to tech

What a time to be alive. Best two hours of the week.

>very little actual value
Being able to say this in 2026 is honestly hilarious, most of our world runs on various kinds of tech. Also tech is a ''field'' that comprises all levels of workers, the obnoxious tech bro is like 0.001 percent of individuals. The average tech worker does his job without interacting with anyone outside his team except if he is a team lead or something, doesn't even make big bucks outside of the USA.

I always thought the /pol/esque journalist stereotype was mostly propaganda until I was at a party in college and tried to schmooze a journalism major by gently ribbing her around about “fake news” (as was the style at the time) and she got deadpan sober and tore me a new one

Especially for shows with a lot of episodes - acting like someone else takes a lot more effort than playing yourself and people end up just playing themselves. If ever a character starts of one way and seems to act differently later on it's usually their true self coming out more, it's kind of fascinating.

Not even just in Silicon Valley. I have a friend in the tech scene in Toronto. The stories he tells me about the 2015-2019 era when VC cash was flying around are insane.

>Game of Thrones season 4 episode 8 "The Mountain and the Viper"
>Silicon Valley season 1 episode 8 "Optimal Tip-to-Tip Efficiency"
>Veep season 3 episode 8 "Debate"

Potentially one of the best nights of TV ever. Back-to-back-to-back, all on the same channel.

And yet the world and society is nearly the worst it’s ever been, which most people attribute to how tech has ruined society. Interesting how that works isn’t it

didn't bother with the final season, read the synopsis after dropping it and glad I did. It was good up to a point.

Now that the A.I. vibecoding has hit mainstream, I find it hilarious that actual "developers" are seething saying that A.I. code is spaghetti tier, meanwhile most startups have monolith files that need to be refactored before becoming a scaleup or even enterprise level and never do.

Pure cope.

Russ' Ukrainian girlfriend thought so
This show was great and is actually the point where you can see comedies die. A common complaint was that the main story was repetitive, which is just completely retarded especially since the show is about borderline misfits slowly building a billion dollar company and it was somehow not easy.

I work in a field that's pretty generic and my entire workflow process isn't in a single tool. It's spread out into different, expensive tools.
It's perfectly manageable to create 1 tool for it that does the work that needs doing. I've been screaming it for years, nobody listened. Soon, I will know if they were right to ignore me... Or i'll be one of those guys that sells his software for 10 million to IBM.
