2 hours and 20 minutes of a dude talking to a CGI crab and making funny dances. Maybe 20 minutes of actual story, science or something interesting in general. I was bored and I wanted it to end. I have almost no interest in watching it again. I prefer 2001 A Space Odyssey, Interstellar, Gravity and The Martian above this one.
>>219202978fair>Interstellar, Gravityokay let's not go full retard those are still shit
>>219202978Interstellar is pretentious slop.>muh love transcends time and space
>>219202978additionally bogged Ryan Grossling can go fuck himself
>>219203016I said that I like them more compared to this one. Not talking about them individually.
>>219203016your life is shit contrarian faggot, Interstellar is one of the greatest cinema pieces ever made by OST alone.
I thought it was kind of a mess, pacing was dogshit and everything besides being a talking animal movie was pushed to the side. Great sets and effects though I guess.
>>219202978I was going to see this until I found out that there's a harry styles song in it
>>219203025your life is shit and loveless contrarian faggot.
>>219203076>>219203190uh oh nolanpajeet melty
>>219202978Rocky isn’t cgi except for the time when he’s rolling in his ball
>>219203025Interstellar rules. The docking scene alone is worth the price of admission.
>2 hours and 20 minutes of a dude talking to a CGI crab and making funny dances.
>>219203558>jujutsu kaisenYou need to be over the age of 18 to post here
>>219202978Rocky was the most popular thing to come out of the books, it's his film essentially
How can a living organism live on the surface of a star?
>>219202978sounds like people like the movie. I look forward to seeing it. because its something different, and I like space stuff and aliens. everything else nowadays is just the 20th movie in a franchise
>>219202978>I prefer 2001 A Space Odyssey, Interstellar, Gravity and The Martian above this one.well, yeah... but Interstellar, Gravity and Martian are still bad
>>219203076lol no>>219204730>sounds like people like the movieshills and redditors doesn't count as "people liking the movie"
>>219205074shit my bad, I forgot that anyone who likes something you don't is obviously a paid shill
>>219205355you are clearly either a paid shill or a troll.normal people don't open thread after threat 24/7 chanting slogans, rabidly defending products and bathing in negative attention.
>>219202978ChiRocky was a practical puppet you massive zoom.
>>219202978MOM STILL MAKIN EM STILL TRANS
>>219204679something something super-crossectionality or something where astrophage can absorb energy until it's ready to breed then leave, it involves neutrinos too where even they can't pass through the outer layer of the cell. the book goes into it a bit, but it's still weir's macguffen to make the story work. it's based in real science except it's something that doesn't and probably can't exist.
>>219204730it's pretty good, and it's an original IP as you said which is something refreshing. the remakes and sequels are boring to me. i liked the book a lot, and the movie didn't disappoint. i wish they kept some things from the book in the film, and maybe executed it a bit differently but overall it was pretty well done.
All the space flicks you mentioned are shit. Why leave out the good ones?>Europa Report>Event Horizon>Ad Astra
An advanced alien species that can travel trough the universe and they don't know the speed of light? Is that logical?
Astrophage can't evolve naturally. It must be a bioweapon. Why does no one in the film mention that?
>>219206040a Funko Pop made to sell Funko Pops>>219206481it clearly isn't
>>219206481Its explained quite well. Their species doesn't see light, so they only recently discovered astronomy at all. They had speed run spaceflight as soon as they figured out why their planet was cooling.
>>219206537Yes, their planet's gravity and atmosphere was so thick they had to build a space elevator as rockets wouldn't work. Also the magnetic field was 100x stronger than earth's so radiation doesn't reach the surface. They're more like a species evolving at the bottom of the ocean. Rocky and his crew were the first of their species to ever go into space.
>>219206481they only operated on newtonian physics. they were very smart but operated without sight, so a lot of things involving light were overlooked by them.
What did the alien help with? He seemed less intelligent or knew less than Grace about the problem and science in general. He looked kinda dumb in general.
>>219207666He was an Engineer who made first contact in an intelligent manner, found a way to cohabit, had the materials and knowledge to build a 5km chain. Grace most likely wouldn't have solved it on his own, or he might have had the solution but no way to manufacture it
>>219203016Interstellar is awful. That aint going full retard.
>>219207666he's an excellent engineer and fabricator. can build just about anything to tight tolerances using xenonite, and can do complex math in a natural capacity like breathing. also has a perfect "photographic" type memory, where they retain all information. it's glossed over in the movie, but that's one of the ways they were able to fast track communication. rocky remembers everything so when grace talks he picks up the human language and grace uses the software to vocalize the whale song, as well as rocky's mathematical capabilities being able to convert from eridian units to human units in real time.
