Opinion: Breaking Bad is a blatant rip-off of Death Note, and Light Yagami is a thousand times a better mastermind criminal main character than Walter White in every single way (especially being sexier and cooler). Everything that Breaking Bad gets praised for, Death Note did first and better, and in a much shorter time.
>>219205066death note should have ended with L's death. unfortunately the shonen jump editors forced the author to continue the story so that the "villain" can be properly punished.
>>219205066>and Light Yagami is a thousand times a better mastermind criminal main character than Walter WhiteNo, Light is a moron.
>>219205098100% this, jumped the shark hard and stopped being even somewhat plausible
>>219205098>>219205230Just do what I did on my recent rewatch - stop watching halfway through episode 25 or 26, whatever it is, where it shows the aftermath of L's death and Light solidifying his victory and taking out all the loose ends. And pretend that's the true ending, as the author intended. Since there's a big time jump after and basically a do-over of the story it's very easy to mark that as the ending.
>>219205066Go back to /a/
>>219205066The Death Note anime should’ve been a full 15 episodes shorter. No M or N, no Misa and the stupid amnesia plot. Get rid of all that garbage.
>>219205066>characters name is light>scene has almost no lightinggrim
>>219205384The amnesia plot led to a lot of fun and comfy moments of Light and L working together and being "friends" (basically showing an alternate reality version of if Light stayed good) and also gave us the absolute kino of Light's master plan, him regaining his memories, and him killing all of his enemies in one fell swoop.
>>219205066Obvious bait, also Light realistically couldnt win a chess match without invisible magic demons on his side.
>>219205066How did L plan on proving Light was the killer with zero physical evidence of any kind?
>>219205727He didn't, really. His final plan was to prove the 13 day rule as being fake to convince the task force that Light definitely was still the prime suspect, and in his mind this woyld be enough to convince them to permanently detain him/execute him. And it probably would have worked if Light didn't manipulate Rem into his plot. Also, the thing is, Japan is notorious for its ruthless "if you're accused you're guilty" justice system, with something like a 99% prosecution rate.
>>219205794I’ve always wondered how that works in Japan. What if the person arrested had a Saul Goodman style lawyer who saunters in and tells the detectives to either charge his client or fuck off?
>>219205924No, the thing is they will charge you and arrest you and put you on trial, and then in court the system is designed and run in a way that it's extremely unlikely you'll be found not guilty because, in their minds, if you've already got to that place then you're almost certainly guilty.Maybe unjust and harsh but Japan is safer than any other country in the world so I guess the results speak for themselves, I dunno.
>>219206140Yeah but they still have attorneys, right? The police might be more wary if they know the person they’re detaining has a high priced lawyer watching them.
>>219206178It's not the police making these decisions. They arrest anyone that breaks a law or is believed to, as in any country. It's the prosecution and judges and juries that cause the insanely high prosecution success rate because once in court that's where the final decisions are made. But regarding Death Note it's kind of a moot point since L probably didn't intend for Light to stand trial and Near DEFINITELY didn't (in the manga he said he'd literally lock up Light underground and let him die there).
>>219206242It would still be your best bet to have a slick talking defense attorney on your side poking holes in the prosecution, no? Presumably Japanese trials aren’t that different.
>>219206242>>219206300I would totally watch a show or movie about a hotshot American attorney practicing in Japan BTFOing Jap prosecutors and judges.
>>219205066DURRRRRR CARTOONS
