This is NASA, this is the Artemis missions which include missions to land on the moon, build a base on the moon, and build a space station around the moon which will serve as a gas station for orbital launches to Mars. This launch today is the first time NASA has sent humans to lunar orbit in over 50 years, and this launch sets the stage for the next launch which will be a human landing on the moon. Today's launch is magical in every sense.
>>
>>219207073
I know the mission. I think the magical moment for me will be the first picture of the moon base.

On my Facebook feed NASA turned off comments after 3,000+ flat earthers replied saying there was no launch, no rocket and no moon landing

I'm getting really worried about the internet. People don't even argue about opinions anymore, they argue about reality. The Moskva sailed home safe, Netanyahu is dead, earth is flat, 9/11 was CGI, and anyone who acknowledges anything that actually ever occurred is a tranny.
>>

>>219208196

>>
>>219208196
it's not a coincidence that the rise in trutherism coincides perfectly with the browning of the internet
>>
>>219208196
what you need to understand is that 99% of viral stuff posted on social media isnt genuine. its bots and trolls fishing for replies, not actual opinions. outrage, specifically designed to reach the largest number of people.

the vast majority of people still agrees on reality, but there are nefarious actors trying to muddy the waters in online spaces, because you can do spiritual damage to open societies and it only costs them a buck and a half to do so.

you can count with your fingers the number of actual flat earthers living in north america, you will never encounter them in real life, it doesnt represent a significant amount of people, therefore its inconsequential horseshit, on the same level as people drinking their own piss for health reasons.

The annoying fagcuntshit thing about this mission is that because of the moon blocking all communications at the far side, the usual suspects will call it fake. all so tiresome

Here is what I am doing, call me a retardojew fuck you. In my curated bonzai tree world of hope and happiness, everything I see today from NASA actually happened. I'm more excited for next week when Starship goes into orbit for the first time.
For comparison, here's the actual astronaut-holding part of the Starship and the Orion, the rocket bit not included.
And in defense of the Orion, it's almost twice the size of the tin can Neil Armstrong's crew used in the first place.

The Saturn V program was ended in favor of the Space Shuttle and the Space Shuttle was a piece of shit that never delivered on what it promised

The Shuttle as promised to Richard Nixon and the Air Force would
>be able to launch once every two weeks, simply requiring an inspection and refueling
>cost $20 million per mission
It would have absolutely revolutionized space travel and seen thousands of people put in orbit and on the moon

The actual Shuttle, as completed and put into service
>was maybe able to launch once every nine months, after the entire thing was taken apart and rebuilt from scratch
>cost $1.5 billion per mission
>40% of them ended up exploding and killing everyone aboard

People don't hate the Shuttle enough. It got some things done like the ISS and the Hubble, but only because infinite money was shoveled into it, when it should have been capable of doing an order of magnitude more.
>>
>>219209459
Orion has the benefit of being able to reach the moon from just one launch, same as how Apollo and Saturn V did it.
Whereas Starship would have to sit in orbit and receive 10 or more refueling trips before going there
>>
>>219209053
They're the same thing.
>>
Space travel is a waste of money and materials.
>>
>>219209671
>>219209638
It's a 10 day round trip and it'll be a matter of seconds that it spends anywhere near the ISS.

The ISS is "only" 260 miles away from us vertically. Artemis is going 238,000 miles away.

>>219208964

Hey, it's far for people, tiny for space.

Last month, the Voyager probe celebrated reaching 16,094,799,105 miles from earth. That's a significant number because it's the distance a ray of light travels in exactly one day.
It was launched in 1977.

I know there's no arguing with schizos but I find it interesting that the future Chinese landing is in fact very similar in design and mission plan to the allegedly fictional landing in 1969. The Mengzhou and Lanyue look and work essentially the same way the Apollo CSM and LEM did.
