is season 1 the best? where exactly does the show fall off? personally i caught almost every episode until around season 5 or 6 when castielle became a main character

I'm not going beyond season 5 if I ever rewatch it. There were something comfy episodes after that, but it's just not worth it.
How much did John actually know? We know he knew about Sam being targeted by Azazel but did he know the specifics about Lucifer and the Apocalypse?

I liked them all but my mind is flexible enough to like multiple things. First couple seasons were great and with great music. At some point they realized the biggest audience for the show was teenage girls so they dropped the music and made the stories safer. Then it just gets into a long slog with some meta episodes but still pretty good and comfy. At the end they started bringing the classic rock back but at that point they were no linger just fighting random demons but had defeated god and his sister so it could never be like it was at the beginning.

I stopped after Sam went to hell with Lucifer, the worst season was definitely the one with the criminal chick with daddy issues who kept interrupting the plot every time with the shittiest episodes possible.
