I had never seen either before but I was amazed at how much better the MK movie was, because it knew exactly what it wanted to be and did it well. A cheesy over the top, but earnestly done, martial arts movie with ninjas, wizards, and mercenaries fighting in a tournament for the fate of Earth. It's definitely worse than the first one. That one at least tried to have some sort of story arc, this one has literally nothing. It was really noticeable in the second half, like whenever a problem or conflict would arise for the characters to overcome, it would be solved within the next 5 minutes with little consequence (sometimes even completely out of nowhere like a deus ex machina). It's just barely finding excuses to get you to the next location with more references. The baby gun was the worst example, that was the moment I checked out of the movie.Still, I was surprised how much I enjoyed Fox McCloud. Wouldn't mind it if they made a Star Fox movie at some point
