It doesn't really. He becomes dirty and dishevelled, hanging around a bunch of Australian savages instead of getting to Sydney to impregnate his blond gf; ~~ends up trying to kill himself because he gets touched by a poofter~~. This movie is like when you go out drinking with a pal you don't really like to hang around and end up on a bender with all kinds of seedy characters you want to escape but are too drunk/peer pressured to leave.
