Do you have a KINO theater near you? Pic related: it's the Oriental Theater in Milwaukee.
Pic also related: it's the KINOMA from another angle
Even the lobby oozes KINO
>>219239630I do but they play nothing but foreign art house shit then real kino very late at night. They had of showing of Heat at 10pm on Thursday and it pisses me off that they do shit like that
>>219239630Milwaukee is full of leftists and somalis
>>219239774Does your town have a KINOMA? The Oriental Theater in Milwaukee is protected by KINO LIONS aka THE GUARDIANS OF KINO

The KINO LIGHTS
More KINO LIGHTS. Every detail is KINO.
>>219239630i have a regency in my area but they only show artsy foreign movies and the occasional kino. the cinepolis is in a big popular center so you get a lot of zoomers and monkeys there, no thanks. two of the regals we have are rundown and horrible, the one with an IMAX is in another big popular center so its really overpriced and full of monkeys unless you show up at like 11am on a wednesday. i miss the movies :(
Theater Tuschinski ,AmsterdamTuschinski was crowned "most beautiful movie theater in the world" in 2021 by Time Out Magazine. After Pathé bought it they added a very soulless new wing, but at least they've preserved the original building.
>>219240293I feel the pictures don't do it justice.
>>219240318KINO
I don't know if "Kino" means opulent and fancy in this context, or a theater that is sincere in its love of film and shows great movies. If the former, I couldn't tell you. But if it's the latter then we have The Hollywood Theater here in Portland, and it's one of the best theaters I've been too. They even own a video rental store a few blocks from the actual theater.
>>219240566You can interpret kino any way you want for this thread
>>219239630>Orientalyikes, I hope they will be renaming it the People of East Asian Descent Theater
>>219240723The only places I see the word "Oriental" any more are Asian owned and run grocery stores, some of the products those stores sell, and this theater.
I want to go to that Chinese theater in LA
>>219240293art deco is kino as fuck. beautiful building. here's Uránia Film Theater from Budapest, built in Neo-Moorish style in 1896
>>219241869KINO
>>219241648
Saenger Theater, New Orleans. Built 1927, renovated 2013.
>>219240566bagdad theater is a much more visually stunning interior. its just too bad they only show first run slop.
>>219244460>>219241648Even the curtains are KINO. The CURTAINS OF KINO, I call them.
>>219239630It looks cheap and fake. Trying to emulate a architectural style without understanding it. Kinda like Trump's White House.
>>219245205The whole point is that it's a pastiche of certain styles. That's what makes it fun.
>>219246222that is true to an extent. americans have always loved cheap pastiches fed to them because it makes them feel cultured while the actual culture it originates from would be mortified if they saw it
>>219245205Except that's the point, unlike Trump's shit.
>>219246336I have a theory that if the ancient Egyptians could see The Luxor in Vegas they’d think it was the greatest thing they’d ever seen
>>219246222The kinotorium
>>219239630Too distracting; can’t keep eyes on the screen
>>219249639How do you watch kinos at home?
>>219239630Do they serve wontons instead of crab legs?
>>219249963No. You can get coffee though.
>>219252117Lame. Pass.
>>219252204Do you merely attend the movies to gorge yourself on overpriced food?
Why did such a SOVL theater have to close??
RETVRN
>>219253466>>219255049I will never disrespect India again
>>219241052Meanwhile the more PC "world market" run by non-Asians still sell cheap-labor goods.
>>219245205Art deco was grab bag, just like movies drew from many existing artforms.
>>219246336Must be why Gaudi is still revered.
>>219245205>It looks cheap and fake. Trying to emulate a architectural style without understanding it.Do you get mad as fuck when you watch some movie and the historical costumes aren't 100% accurate?
>>219259354>watch Apocalypto>start seething with rage about how the costumes are historically inaccurate because the Inca didn't have clothing with zippers typical accuracy seether
Civic theatre in auckland nz
>>219264452Peter Jackson used it in King Kong 2005
Only one in GA I know of is the fox theatreMan georgia sucks
Milwaukee is also home to the Avalon Atmospheric Theater.
>>219239630I haven't been to a theater in like 10 years.
>>219239630The Paramount in Austin is really cool and old school. They do a lot of movie screenings. A couple of years ago they did a screening of Zombi 2/Dawn of the Dead with goblin playing the score live. Shit was pretty cash. Probably seen more stand up there than movies because the seats are fucking painful. Absolutely gorgeous fucking building though.
Here is one of the personal kinoplexes at a local arcade.
>>219264992My eyes got tetanus AND lead poisoning from this picture.
>>219264881>the seats are fucking painful. Most theaters have empty spaces for wheelchairs and I always wonder what would happen if somebody simply brought their own chair to sit in one of those spots
>>219265763imagine strutting into the theater and slapping down your Hans Wegner Papa Bear Chair and ottoman right in the wheelchair spot to watch your kino
>>219265842Forgot the pic. THIS would be the ultimate kino throne.
>>219264713There are probably more in Georgia than you think. This list looks like it has some KINO theaters to watch KINO inhttps://exploregeorgia.org/list/10-historic-movie-theaters-in-georgia
>>219267368you can also check Cinema Treasures, but it can be kind of a pain in the ass to search and they have new theaters in there too famalam
The Lincoln Theatre in Columbus Ohio is kino. it seems a bit inappropriate to name a theater after Abraham Lincoln though. Mostly has live events instead of movies tho
>>219240723>>219241052The orient used to refer to the middle east which is why the theater is decorated in a faux arab style. It only started to mean east asian recently
>>219253466did they build this in minecraft lmao
>>219240293I'd watch a kino here and talk up a hot wannabe kino girl afterward.
>>219267767No. They built it in India.
>>219265919I’m not even tall (5’9”) and I still find it annoying how little legroom there is at sporting events, performing arts theaters, and old movie theaters.
