Capeshit saved theaters as you know them. You should be grateful, curs
>>
>be thankful you can still pay twenty bucks for popcorn, ten dollars for a medium drink and have to sit in an theater full of smelly browns
nah I'll stick with my home theater and continue praying for the death of theaters, hollywood and israel.
>>

May you receive exactly what you wish for

>Capeshit saved theaters as you know them.
No, that was stockchuds who wanted to screw over hedge funds who tried to short AMC stock during COVID.
You had to be there, but it was like a miniature repeat of the Gamestop event.
>>
>>219240474
Nah, it was Spider-Man long before that
>>
I don't watch them. My friends don't watch them. I see clips online, a thread on /tv/ here, a headline there, a poster at the mall, some people spergin over which suit is best, etc. I don't hate them, I just don't think about them at all. To me, they are background noise.
>>
>>219240624
They made billions of dollars without you and your friends, don't worry
>>
>>219240701
I have no reason to worry about background noise. 10 years from now and it's going to be some other bullshit.
>>
>>219240147
No it didn’t. Capeshit essentially replaced Transformers as the slop du jour, and for about 15 years, it was all there was, because it choked out everything else like a goddamn kudzu vine, so Hollywood threw everything into mass-producing capeshit product, and once that bubble burst, they now have nothing, and the industry is mega-fucked.
>>
>>219240147
Yes and it gave us marvel humor into everything
plague of cinema
>>
>>219240624
Same. So many “phenomenons” come-and-go without me even noticing because I don’t care, and choose not to engage with it.

>>219240701
Argumentum ad populum is always a solid debate strategy. Well done.

>Opie starts with a half-baked shit take thread designed to get people maximally engaged in refuting him
>Engages just slightly with the first few posters, usually just to prod slightly
>Hardline sticks to his guns
What do you call this particular brand of trolling? What causes it? Is it autism? Is it the CIA attempting to make boards less interesting?

Capeshit was inevitability.
the culmination of "the business model".
Its not whats keeping theatre alive.
Its whats "killing theatre".
and that is precisely Streaming services
Well technically it was piracy which streaming solved.
the normalization of anxiety and isolation notwithstanding.
capeshit was also a symptom of a truly globalized market for movies where each capeshit movie had different changes according to what nation it was in.
China is doing alot of heavy lifting in the theatre market now with their growing middle class.
but that could just be chinese propaganda.
every time ive went to the movie theatre i see families or groups of kids too young to drink.
im usually that guy alone at the threate. Rarely ever come across one of my kind. That could be becuase i live in a small city though.

Yes and no

I live in a city of population of 10k people. There is no other cinema in 60kms, so I decided to open one in 2008

It was semi successfull, I was able to mantain the cinema and I was able to pay the bills and go on a holiday, with 3 screenings a day. There were times when I had to cancel the screening because there were only like 5 people showing up, the biggest movies like Avatar 1 had like 80% occupancy for the first day, then it went back to 40%-50%

Then the golden age of capeshit came, I remember Avengers 1, we were fully booked for a week. Really great times.
Every single movie which wasnt capeshit had like 50% attendance, capeshit was always around 80-90, even fully booked on release day. I decided to screen only Endgame every single day for a week, we were always full.

The decline started around the Rami Dr. Strange. Opening night had 80%, then it started to plummet. Spiderman no way home was an expectipon (but that was the new movie after covid ended), but still. I remember I had to cancel the Marvels once because there were only 7 people.

People dont really care now, Project Hail Mary had pretty good numbers with 70-80% attendance, Thunderbolts was around 50%-60%, Nigger america was around 40%-50%

Would you say it's worth it? My town doesn't have any theaters and I fucking love going to the movies. Now seems like a fucking desert of good movies though.
>>
>>219241195
Do you see a future for cinemas or is it going the way of opera and the dodo?
>>
>>219241195
You should do an ama thread bro
>>
>>219241277
It is a pretty big investment, go for it only if you have money to burn. I inherited some, and I was young. I certainly wouldn't do it today. For the first 4 years I was the one selling tickets, popcorn, cleaning, and my dad was the tech guy.

Around 2012 I had profit to hire 3 people who are still working with me.

>>219241340
defintely its going down. People like to watch movies more at home. Big cities are secured, but for us, little guys it will be grim. Look at here, this was for the mario movie today. The absent white seats are the sold ones. Grim

>>219241434
Well, you can ask me here.
>>
>>219241559
That is grim, maybe it will pick up for the Easter weekend, but it does sadly seem to be the future especially with streaming services gobbling everything up. Do you do anything extra to bring in customers, like LotR marathons, pet nights showing 101 Dalmatians, school outings group tickets, etc?
>>
>>219241721
Many people are complaining to me that
- kids cant behave
- people can't behave
during the screenings.
I can absolutely get those people who decide to buy a big tv and soundbar at home and stay there.

>maybe it will pick up for the Easter weekend,
these are the booked seats for saturday so far. 10-15% of the people will show up without booking, so meh

>Do you do anything extra to bring in customers
I have a contract with the state, they pay for schools to go to cinema twice a year. So nothing much.

>LotR marathons,
Its not that easy. You need to have the rights from the publisher, you can't play whatever you want. For example I have a contract with a publisher which allows me to play mamma mia. My shitty town has "greek days" during summer, and I play mamma mia, people tend to like it.
>>
>>219242168
I made the same photo fuck
but the numbers are simmiliar
>>
>>219242168
Hmm... well good luck and godspeed, cinemanon. I hope there's a major resurgence in kinos that need to be experienced in the theater.
>>
>>219240701
>They made billions of dollars without you and your friends, don't worry
Why do you seem worried?
>>
>>219240897
Thanks. My pleasure. I'll do it again too. It's a really good argument
>>
>>219241031
Just getting any of you guys to talk about anything besides your endless navel gazing shittakes something I consider a victory, no matter how half assed it is
>>
>>219240170
Do you even like television and films or are you just here for political ragebait?
>>
>>219244910
>I'll do it again too.

I’m sure you will, because you’re a dipshit who has nothing of value to say, but still REALLY wants to have opinions.
>>
>>219242168
I'd play whatever I want. Who's going to know, the theater police?
>>
>>219242699
I'm not. If I said why do you seem like a faggot, does that make you one?
>>
>>219245039
I already said what I needed to say and it was succinct and on point. Do you really need a dissertation on why I said what I did? Get off it
>>
Anyone who liked capeshit made in the 21st century has no right to any opinions about cinema.
