I tried reading the book when I was in jail and I couldnt do it. It was the unabridged version and there are so many fucking footnotes and... I forget the word but its when you have to flip to the back of the book and read 5 pages of french maritime lore to get the context of whats happening in the story.
>>219262465It's only okay. The early and middle is good but it completely fails to stick the landing, the ending is shit because they completely miss the point of Haydee. The book is MUCH better, just make sure you get either a proper unabridged translation (Robin Buss is excellent) or read it in the original language.
