>Book detective gets high paid job to verify obscure book>Never actually READS the book>Just looks at the pictures>Seriously, just looks at the pictures like it's a puzzle for children>Let's his sidekick, devil girl, do all the dirty work and safe him from bad situationsThis movie is incredibly dumb.
>>219269959So redditfag zoomers have moved on from crying about falling down and this is their new project.
He wasn't paid to read the book, dumbass.
Ya. I also noticed they never showed him taking a shit. Or brushing his teeth. Or taking a shower. Wtf? Am I supposed to believe this character didn't do any of this over a period of days? We also never saw him purchasing tickets for all his train rides. Wtf did he just get on them for free?
>>219269959its dogshit, yes, i already made this thread
>>219269959have you considered coming out to your family so you can finally deal with your trauma OP? You'll feel better.
>>219269959OP should have said that the movie sucked because Johnny wasn't acting like captain jack in it. That's why i didn't like it when i was 16
When you're an antique book dealer I can't imagine that it makes any difference whether or not you've read anything you're dealing in
>>219271899>>219270256>>219270195>>219270122>>219269959Exactly. He was specifically tasked with comparing the volumes and determining if there were any differences that might indicate one or all of them being forgeries. He didn't need to understand the "centuries of wisdom" the book contained. That's the whole point of the movie. All of the sincere Devil worshipers are ultimately spurned and betrayed. Corso embodies traits the Devil respects. If Corso worships anything, it's himself. That's why he's the one the Devil ultimately chooses to bless with the forbidden knowledge the others were seeking. I know some people interpret the movie as Corso BEING the Devil on Earth. I'm not saying my take is objective or self evident. Regardless, it's central to the film that Corso gets in on the secrets in the end (and is protected by the Blonde woman) specifically because his motivation was always purely selfish and indifferent. I love this movie. If anyone would know anything about how Satanism actually works it'd be Polanski, that brilliant demon.
Didn't he take the plane from New York to Paris or whatever. He could have read the book on the plane.
>>219272706wow he's just like me
>>219272706I'd probably do as he were she to look as that
>>219277913Add Historia de lo Oculto (2020) to Appendix, it fits right in. Super creepy with a great twist.
>>219269959It's also great, the only modern Polanski that I've enjoyed
>>219272706>Movie is good because it's pro-satanist!Yeah I'll pass.
when balkan asked him about the book he already had a good amount of knowledge about it. especially since there were only 3 copies. he really knew his shit
