Chakotay had no personality but Janeway's lapdog because the show desperately needed to show masculine subservience to girlboss.
>>
>Native American actor
>goes insane later in life
Many such cases.
>>
I think it's just because they didn't want to stray too far from the TNG formula in which the crew is mostly obedient.
>>

Some girls unironically crush on Chakotay because of his subservience. It's sickening.

>In the Star Trek: Voyager episode "Resolutions" (Season 2, Episode 25), Chakotay builds a handcrafted bathtub for Captain Janeway while they are stranded on a planet. This scene is iconic for fans, highlighting their intimate connection during the temporary exile, which also involved caring for an alien monkey.

I’m not even a Trekkie but whenever I caught this show I always recall this dude being boring asf
>>
>>219271995
Anon he's Mexican. Could you argue he's native American? Sure, just not the smok'em peace pipe variety he played.
>>
>>219271928
>I watched RLM just now I'm trying to get like from repeating what they said
>>
>>219272100
You seem upset and insecure. Why is that? Something go wrong recently, or just a persistent sense of resentment you live with, anon? Let's rap.
>>
>>219271995
Only native American thing about Chakotay is native American consultant they used with cultural issues, a tribal con artists from suburbs of Los Angeles. Who blended in with other tribals in Hollywood. I have even heard rumors that he performed casting couch rituals with Weinstein, a fellow tribal.

Akoochiemoya, I am far from my koochie

Voyager was probably the worst of the writers not knowing their own characters or who they wanted them to be but other series had this as well. I hated Troi and thought Guinan did her job better. DS9 famously had Jadzia and even Julian kind of switches mid series, for the better most would say. Chakotay never felt like a real character, he had no defining traits other than being woo woo mystical guy. The one good episode in the jungle they gave him should have been more of what they did. Janeway herself is written four different ways. Also I hate Kim.

>The one good episode in the jungle they gave him
There are at least 2 episodes I can think of that could be described that way and both of them suck
>>
>>219272120
No, you're boring, and just like rlm, you're missing the point of the failure of his character.
>>
>>219272687
Mm, now you seem more upset. Wonder what went so wrong for you. That's sad. I hope you can feel enjoyment watching media someday.

>he thinks RLM has original, new fresh takes on a 30 years old show with millions of fans
>A show that has daily generals on /tv/ for decades
>But RLM fresh takes that everyone copies!
Your brain is mush

>"Jamake Highwater" (13 February 1931–3 June 2001; age 70), born Jackie Marks, served as a consultant on Native American culture to Star Trek: Voyager. Though he claimed American Indian ancestry, he was in fact of Eastern European Jewish background.

OH NO NO NO NO NO

Pemican bagles?

The writers were building up a Janeway and Chakotay romance for a few seasons, but Janeway's actress backed out at the last minute. She refused to get with Chakotay. This ruined several seasons of build up that the writers planned.

kek, switched from Marx when they got here

and because he was a bloated slimey beaner
>>
>>219271928
I liked him briefly in the episode where he disciplines a Maquis crewman by punching him in the face.
>>
>>219272462
He would've been a lot better if they made him from an actual tribe and got input from someone who knows about it instead of made up shit like akoochimoya.
>>
i hate neelix
but chakotay i feel nothing and that's worse
>>
>>219271928
never liked him, and episodes focusing on him were boring
>>
>>219276731
If the writers had balls in the middle of the series they would have done an arc where he gets his own ship, like he and his closest maquis buddies steal the Equinox or something instead of it blowing up, and proceed to race Janeway to the Alpha quadrant with a bunch of sexual tension.
>>
If you think he's boring you're a chump. Let's look at his character:

-Ex Starfleet, so he knows the regulations, protocols and codes of conduct
-Turnes Maquis so he's a rebel, had to navigate the halls of an "institution" with no rules where only the strong and smart survive and the rest are Cardie Cannon fodder
-Geys thrust into a situation where both of his worlds mix and he has to tread a fine line between Starfleet protocol and Maquis might-makes-right
-Does such a good job Mommy Janeway makes him her #1
-Has to train some of his fuckup Maquis how to fall the fuck in line
-Nighas ain't wanna roll with the program so he coldcocks a nigga and says if you wanna handle it like Maquis this is how it's done
-Earns the respect of both crews, becoming an OG in his own time
-Akoochemoyas in the weekends

Chakotay is a dope character and if you don't like him you're probably a closeted gay.

I want B'Elanna Torres to dominate my manhood.
>>
>>219277375
I like how she essentially became the Doctors mom, helping him with his technical problems and advising him on his programs likitations
>>
>>219271928
I like when Chakotay conveniently had an interest in whatever the problem or discussion of the week was. Man has a lot of hobbies.
>>
>>219272992
every single time
>>
>>219271928
He had no personality because it was a 2nd string Berman production, where the consultant was a literal fraud, a known one.
And so bad it was that it got fixed in about 5 minutes on a cartoon for kids.
