I think the first series wasn't that bad. It's a pretty straight forward survival/chase comic with so-so characters and a interesting twist on zombies. I think one of the most impactful moments is when the black guy sees his family murdered on the beach while he is out swimming and can't do anything about it. It's 100% more effective than "that" splash page that everyone gets riled up over, which is off putting largely by its palpable neediness to shock you, rather than it actually being shocking. But to his credit Ennis knows its a one trick pony and never really repeats it, although all the shitty south american writers and artists they paid peanuts to make Badlands do. I also think those pages that showed vast vistas of pandemonium were pretty effective too and could translate into some effective shots if movie's budget allows it.Badlands was largely absolute shit. I didn't mind +100 but I don't blame people from bouncing off it either. 4/10 series in total.

The very first issue is a couple getting tag team raped while they eat their little girl alive. Whatever adaption of Crossed happens it will be a gutted and tame version of the comics. Which means it's only value (edgelord misery porn) has been cut from the product.
