Digital cinema was a mistake.

Is this a horror movie? Why is it so fucking dark?
>>

>we want the game of thrones audience
>>
>>219284283
Honestly it'll be strange watching HP without being rock hard the entire time.
>>
I don’t really understand why they’re playing it safe. This is literally the exact same shot in the first film HBOfied. They’ve done things like make Snape black as an outrage boosting tactic when if they’re going for “book accurate” they could’ve just done a young Snape to contrast with Alan Rickman. They just should’ve totally changed the aesthetic and done something new.

Also, they should’ve just made Hermione black. That one was a layup.

I think the cursed child plays only cast Hermione as black so it would have made sense for her to be the big race swap character

Digital cameras and post processing. Filmmakers no longer need to consider how the lighting in a scene is going to appear because most of it will be changed in post anyway. Making the image dark hides any digital artifacts or colour adjustment too. Basically the less you can see, the less cheap it will appear.
>>
>>219284218
The lighting is shit enough I was convinced Hermione was coated in dirt in that part.
>>
>>219284471
Exactly, and nobody except people here would really go hard on the decision because it’s a little girl. I guess maybe people at HBO thought they would lose some of the young girls who lived vicariously through Hermione if she was black. But they’ve recast the incel recluse guy whose entire arc is about humiliation and rejection to piss black people off so

Here's a harsh redpill for you
Movies today look like shit because the world looks like shit
During the 2010s, most major cities replaced real lights with LED lights to save power, and it killed warm lighting everywhere
Movies today looking bland and washed out isn't some conspiracy, it's them reflecting reality
>>
film schools forgot how to teach lighting.
you have to over-light extremely hard, boiling bright, make the actor’s sweat kind of light bc most of it gets lost in the camera.
>>
>>219284947
ok but that scene is set during the day and the only source of light is supposed to be the sun
>>
Her face looks dirty, what the fuck?

Brownoid Hermione looks terrified and desperate

Optimization for streaming. 1 GB of gloomy digital video is 20 GB of scanned film where you can see everything. I’m exaggerating but not by much

nigga I am looking out the window every day it looks fucking great, sometimes I even open the window to look out just in case it's glass; it's not; it just looks fucking great
>>

Dis nigga living his life through pictures from internet. Go outside sometimes. It looks great
>>
>>219285234
Frankenstein and Sinners were colorful and they were both shot with modern cameras and lighting.
>>219285223
Also probably because scenes with less data for color scale better to mobile screens. That explains why so many scenes have blurry low resolution backgrounds. Like a PS3 game from 2008.
>>
I'm tired of modern movies/shows remaking old successful movies/shows, calling the old stuff "problematic" and "too white", then blackwashing a bunch of the cast. Not even Lord of the Rings was safe.
Fuck them all.
>>
>>219284218
Every modern cinematographer uses such low lighting, it’s absurd
>>
>>219284914
hi jj
you were warned and now you'll face it in person
>>

>scale better to mobile screens.
Most mobile screens are higher resolution, refresh rate, etc. than most peoples TVs
