Was it really that bad in retrospect?
>>219284578it being an end of season cliffhanger that didn't show who died was a massive cockblock, otherwise Negan was kino and he single-handedly kept me invested in the series for a little longer
>>219284578My honest reaction to this scene
Did you feel kicked out of the story when they stopped burning local?
>>219284578Yes.The Walking Dead was always a soap opera with a veneer of gore and gnarly special effects, but they flew too close to the sun here. Doing a "Find out next season on The Walking Dead" that was this blatantly contrived, for a moment that most people could literally just google and find the outcome of because it happened years ago in a comic book, was the real jumping the shark moment for me. There was already a sense that they were treading water every episode and packing all of the meat into the mid-season finales/premieres, but this shit was straight up disrespectful to the audience. The cliffhanger in Issue 100 of the comics is that Negan breaks Rick with his sheer brutality and the reader is left wondering "Holy shit, how is everyone going to respond to this?" It doesn't stop all of the momentum in the middle of the scene to do a cheap cliffhanger and bait people into coming back, and I'm still baffled as to why this happened. I don't think people stopped watching because Glenn died, I think they'd just had enough of the retarded plotting - I mean they literally already did a fakeout death with Glenn earlier in this season and ended up copping out in the cheapest way possible. This is the type of cheap tricks that soap operas use, "Who Shot JR" and such, and they needed to at least maintain some semblance that they were a serious drama ala Mad Men instead of fully leaning into the slop.I don't know what happens in the rest of the show other than Carl dies pretty soon after this, which is fucking retarded. And that they "ended" the proper show but are continuing to beat the dead horse with like three different spinoffs, most of them helmed by people who were just regulars on TWD.
>>219284578>10 years ago
Why was Negan a bad guy again? Rick killed a bunch of his guys and he responded, he let them off pretty lightly if you ask me
>>219284578What do you do in this situation? I guess you could try to tackle Negan’s legs and take him hostage before his guys get to ya.
I turned it on a while back at the beginning of some season to maybe try to get back into it. They just had everyone lined up in a row on their knees and started slitting their throats, very graphically while they begged and pleaded. Shit is just filth shock slop for edgelords. Not good for the soul I reckon.
>>219287209Negan was always just Rick if he let go of all the bullshit and step the fuck up. Pretty disappointing how they make him lame as the seasons go on.
>>219284578>White man emasculates asian male and takes his femaleWhy is this trope so common, in fiction and in reality?
>>219286327The Negan series was pretty decent. No idea what the FUCK they were trying to do with Fear the Walking Dead. The acting was like some low budget middle of the afternoon soap opera and they never got to anything walking dead related before I got bored and dropped it. Not interested in watching the Daryl spin off where half the dialogue is in French.
Walking pleb ended with season 1
>>219284578In a vacuum, nah, it's fine. killing off main characters is a decent way to keep the stakes real. My big issue was that they already did a fake out for killing Glen like 2 or 3 episodes earlier, only to make him survive through some absolute bullshit asspull. Makes it swing hard in the other direction where now nothing fucking matters, and it's all just meaningless, shock value slop. There's literally no reason to watch except to see whatever retarded ass stunt they try next. And you can just watch that shit thru webm clips without wasting your fucking time
why do people say it's bad? it gave some life back to a dying stale series.
