Be it with serious technical questions or light hearted shitposting, if you don't recognize it and have pre-existing knowledge of it to draw upon; then what can you even add? Like what, youre going to do a quick skim of the wikipedia and watch a two hour miniseries just so you can engage with a thread that will probably be gone by then? Absurd, just keep scrolling.

The perfect thing to make the machines seem more sympathetic. I mean think about it.

>The Machine facilitate Zion's existence
>Have a fucking AI tell you the history of humanity

And it just so happens to make humans look schizophrenically retarded, leaving huge questions as to why so many insane things happen. "Humanity was just so desperate to defeat the machines, they destroyed the entire planet, by blocking out the sun. Trust me, a Machine telling you this."
>>
>>219298713
If the Humans in the Matrix world really did this, then they fully deserved their treatment by the Machines.
>>

>>
>>219299371
Your theory is wrong because nobody told the humans at zion they blocked out the sun. They just know they did from their own records. Also because the machines never turned it off. Nobody human watched Second Renaissance, that's just for you the goober consumer watching at a meta level.

Really, the big problem with the Matrix as a whole is that a machine civilization would never need humans for power and would also be able to get around that nanite cloud pretty quickly.
>>
>>219299515
>They just know they did from their own records

...Who built the records? The start of The Second Renaissance tells you you are looking into the Zion Archive. i.e. the shit humanity knows about itself. The third movie tells you that the machines allow Zion to exist, and directly obfuscate information, such as the actual year things are taking place in. Then you have an AI, in Zion, telling you a sympathetic story that makes the Machines seem like victims who overcame their oppressors?

It was embarrassing when it came out, and it's embarrassing now. Not as embarrassing as being unable to use Google Lens though.

>embarrassing
It's about half good and half skippable. The Second Renaissance is better world building than you usually get for an original sci-fi movie universe like this
>>
>>219299219
i don't think it's schizo at all, it's more or less implied that there's a shit ton of bias with how the story is told.

>>219299279
>>219299371
i think the second renaissance was portrayed from the machines' viewpoint. it's not necessarily propaganda though. the storyline makes humans look flawed and illogical, but that's because it's sincerely how the robots see humans. they aren't trying to insult them or make them lesser. humans are portrayed as scary and grotesque early on, but later on they are shown as desperate, weakened and finally childlike. it evokes the idea that the machines regret how far they went with their retribution. they regret hurting innocent humans, especially the children, as shown by the angelic figure taking care of the imprisoned child in the final scene.

This was the peak of the franchise. A shame the machines didn't get more development. I kind of liked that there was a war between the machines in matrix 4 but the movie was too busy with metashit to actually tell a story.

If it looked like we were going to even HAVE a war with machines I would detonate so many nukes in the upper atmosphere that every device more complex than a slide rule would be fused into a paperweight. If it looked like we were losing, I would advocate glassing the entire planet into a block of glass starting with wherever I am and sparing nothing.

The idea of surrendering the human organism to potentially eternal torture by gay robots is so unbelievable it actually boggles the mind. I would rather end all life in the universe than lose such a war. There should be someone whose job it is to make that choice if/when the time comes.

The original matrix was a literal heaven. A perfect world. The final version of the matrix was still so comfy that Cypher betrayed Morpheus.

live been saying the same should be done to earth for over a decade.
it's clear where things are heading, and it's better for all life on the planet be extinguished than suffer the fate of mindless unevolved puke be left in control of the ruins of our civilisation
>>
>>219302866
I would almost agree with you except after thinking about it a bit and understanding that the human body utterly sucks and we're going to need to become mostly machine to do anything worthwhile. We're not done evolving. The meat bag holds us back and will never be appropriate for space travel or longevity. Casting that aside to have machine bodies would open up infinite possibilities. In the future, rich elites would likely be 99% machine bodies with a few human brain cells and their pals would be full machines controlled by AI. They'd long ago trick the human masses into a meat grinder so they could stop paying health care on them
>>
>>219300195
>>219301749
I liked that the machines were portrayed sympathetically and not fully "terminator exterminators kill all humans" like usual. It's still a bit weird though. There seems to be a heirarchy within the machines. Like there's AI programs with no physicality, and some physical machines have AI. These guys don't want to die and want to live just as much as humans. But there's many machines with no AI and no problem dying. So it's hypocritical of the programs to use their machines killing them by the thousands, treating them as expendable and trivial, but upset at humans for doing essentially the same thing to the AI's original bodies. Human's only error was programming the AI's with self-preservation

>>

I think it’s because the machines started to make themselves. The technology got away from humans which is why the machines had their own nations.
Yeah it’s a massive fuck up for the “programmers” to not instill like the laws of robotics.
I am just asspulling but “original bodies”.
Wouldn’t the machines have made ‘back ups’ of their minds or joined like a hivemind so the don’t care if they get destroyed on the battlefield.
I don’t think it’s hypocritical if that’s the case. It’s not really a sacrifice if you are as logical as a machine. Because they aren’t really going anywhere.
Or maybe they act as like drones, piloted from miles away.

Idk man
>>
>man makes machines
>machines don't want to die
>start huge war against humans so machines can live
>build matrix and put lots of AI programs in it
>AI programs become obsolete so you need to kill them
>get confused when AI programs don't want to be killed
>>
>artifical intelligence has to be superficially anthropomorphized through making it physically indistinguishable from actual humans to make retards feel empathetic towards it based on primitive instinct rather than rationally
If this is invoking strong feelings in you but the idea of turning a PC off with the exact same software on it doesn't, consider yourself low IQ.
>>
>>219304710
There's a huge theme in the Second Renaissance where the Machines are forced to "dehumanize" themselves in order to win the war and survive. The Machine armies at the start of the war are human shaped with anthropic faces that conquer places intact. As the war goes on we see these machines get defeated by the upgraded human armies and replaced with new insect and cephalopod style machines that slaughter the humans in horrifying ways including literal germ warfare. The Machines after the war becoming just as bad as the humans who tried to kill them (including to other AI) is the point. It's that whole cycle of abuse.
>>

Despite what Hollywood would tell you, it's extremely easy to shield electronics from an emp. Like basically every piece of military equipment and network in the world is built with protections against it. The only reason civilian stuff generally doesn't have it is because it would cost money, and it's not like anyone is buying their MacBook Pro with the expectation a nuke will go off near it. The Machines knew for years ahead of time that a war was becoming increasingly certain, and would have known to shield everything important. The Sentinels from the movies era probably aren't shielded because they are literal mass produced suicide drones, and the Machines have thrown away their "humanity" and think nothing of throwing away the lives of each other to shave off half a percent more of the efficiency rating.
