Has this film had its reappraisal yet as a misunderstood masterpiece?
>>
>>219315971
of course.
>>
>>219315971
If they could edit Rob Schneider out it would be a solid 10.
>>
>>219315971
You can't do that with every movie.
>>

This movie actually had scenes showing the crucial part of the comics that Dredd never even attempted to show. There are still lots of rich people in Mega City One, they don't give a shit about the poors killing each other on the lower level, and they don't care about the law. The people living on top of the skycrapers don't have a care in the world and aren't interested in stopping the crime and machine gun battles of the lower level. This guy is flying his expensive sports car while intoxicated and banging up other people's cars, then threatening judges for trying to enforce the law. Very much in line with the comic unlike Dredd.

Better than Dredd 3D. That movie is ugly as shit.

Rob Schneider is funny in it, he has a good rapport with Stallone, also having him be the comedic relief allows Stallone to have comedic moments as Dredd without having to use wisecracks.

If you watch it together with Demolition Man they'll blend together to become the greatest, most prophetic movie of the 90s
>>
>>219322223
The people that whine about Dredd taking off his helmet or not being accurate to the comic never actually read the comic. It has lots of comedic characters just like Schneider and they play off Dredd's over seriousness. They're also the audience's regular joe window into this weird future, post-apocalyptic society. Rob was fine.

This is what Karl Urban's adaptation should've looked like. Keep the plot and characters the same, but don't make Mega City One just look like Detroit
>>
>>219315971
Only contrarian retards and Stallone fans say that.
>>219319274
Rob "we need to draft kids to die" Schneider is a rather small part of why Judge Dredd movie sucks. He sucks in everything, but it is possible that there are worse things in this movie.

If you can't separate retarded people from their artistry, you're gonna have a bad time.

For past thirty years I though he was a shitty comedian that makes awful and unfunny comedies. His best roles as actor are uncredited cameos in other SNL guys far superior films. Preferably non speaking cameos. I remember seeing him in some Adam Sandler, Ben Stiller and Will Ferrell flicks. Stallone Dredd film might be a dogshit movie with great soundtrack and some really beautiful effects work, it might be actually the best movie where Schneider is credited as actor and actually speaks.

Few days ago I also learned that this never served fuckstick wants to send other people to combat, if he is so eager about that, he could volunteer as suicide bomber. It would improve society and even humanity as whole a lot more than future generations doing national service.

You bitch about comic accuracy yet defend shit like Dredd taking off the helmet or him kissing Hershey?
Contrarianism and stupidity at its peak
>>219315971
This movie was awful. Only good things were the set designs and costumes but that's only because it had a 100 million budget in 1995

This. Good part of Judge Dredd as character is the fact that he is faceless face of justice. Even bigger sin than showing the face is how the film fucks up pretty much every single chief justice as character.

It's not a sin because literally no one gives a shit about Judge Dredd's character. No one reads those shitty ass comics. There's not some enormous fandom to piss off. You all just looked up reasons other people got upset about the film then took them as your own to whine about it. You just parrot other people's complaints.

Good thing movies don't rely on still pictures because stallone's performance was dogshit. Urban was streets ahead.

>It's not a sin because literally no one gives a shit about Judge Dredd's character. No one reads those shitty ass comics.
Shitty adaptations of source material are generally considered a sin for a movie. Stallone Judge Dredd is pretty much selling LSD fueled road trip to Disney Land as The Lord of the Rings. People might be fine with lest say Hamlet set in modern day business world, mostly because like with every single Shakespeare play there is plenty of faithful adaptations of it as films or tv-shows. Stallone Dredd doesn't shit on a single character, it is hard to find a character it doesn't shit on, it does Indian street treatment on every single one of 'em. Only things the film did well was special effects, especially matte jobs and soundtrack.

Judge Dredd takes off his helmet quite a few times, every single time his face is obscured someone or something. Often to comedic effect. Judge Dredd is judge, jury and executioner. Judges in many places have their silly wigs, executioners have their hoods.
>There's not some enormous fandom to piss off.
There was, about 30 years ago. Movie was trashed by critics for a good reason and it was shit on even harder by fans on news groups and forums back in the day. It was almost universally regarded as the worst high budget comic book adaptation in film history.
>You all just looked up reasons other people got upset about the film then took them as your own to whine about it. You just parrot other people's complaints.
Nope.

Stallone's was great and comic accurate. Urban's was diarrhea straight from the ass into your mouth, which is why you loved it.

I love pretending bad things are good. It's why I pretend the Star Wars Prequels are good!
