God, I fucking hate those obvious greenscreen shots. It goes to show how even the best costumes and props look like garbage if you composite the shot like that. The Hobbit is unwatchable because of that and people always tend to remember LotR from the Shire and other physical locations.Also, the elves are not elvish enough. Hugo Weaving had too strong features to play Elrond and no elf would have a 5 o clock shadow, they should have a smooth face and the ears should be longer.

The elves had been fighting in middle earth for thousands of years. At some point they grew weary and just wanted to rest with the Valar. Also, the elves’ rings of power lose their effects once the one ring was destroyed. This was discussed in the books, but the elves really don’t know what will happen to them if they stick around middle earth when the one ring is destroyed. Keep in mind that elves are tied to the world. They are basically part of Arda. Men get to go hang with Eru after they die. Elves just are reborn.
