>hoards tons of movies and TV shows because of how you can organize them these days with pic related>doesn't watch them at allWhy do you do this?
I assume most people do in fact watch their movies and shows. Not sure where this myth comes from
>>219320932>I assume
>download>watch>delet>seed ratio 0
>>219320969>>download>>watch>>deletpoor
>this thread againI've watched all the 400 movies and 50 tv shows of my jellyfin server so I know I'm sharing shit I like to my family and friends
>>219320882No. I don't allow any shitparty software to organize anything.
>>219320932 >I assume most people do in fact watch their movies and shows lol absolutely not half this board treats their NAS like a retirement fund. it’s not about watching, it’s about *having*. clean metadata, perfectly matched posters, custom collections, 4K remuxes “for when I get a better TV.” you’re not curating a library to consume it. you’re curating it to feel prepared. like some digital dragon sitting on a pile of MKVs whispering “one day.” then you rewatch The Sopranos instead.
>>219320882I only download something when I intend to watch it immediately.
>>219322284>I only download something when I intend to watch it immediately.aka poor
>>219322326I have a NAS with 32 terabytes that is half full. I just watch a lot of stuff. But until I intend to watch it I don't see a reason to have it.
i stream 480p movies on shitty pirate stream sites.everything i've ever downloaded that wasn't a video game or reaction image has collected digital dust until it's deleted to make space
>>219322482>i stream 480p movies on shitty pirate stream sites.why?you can stream 4K pirate streams for free now
Why do I need to "hoard" when I can stream everything to my TV with Nuvio?
>>219320882So do you watch your entire collection of movies and shows on repeat all day, every day?
>>219323067nobody does that
>>219320882Nonsense. I watched over %70 of stuff I downloaded. In fact, I will delete stuff if it ends up shit.
>oy vey goyim, let the cloud decide what you are allowed to watch
>>219320882I don't if I want to watch something I can spend 5-10 minutes downloading a 4k rip ahead of time and then delete it afterwards>oh I might watch this movie 5 more times!!! I have to keep this all there!!!no
>>219323257i don't get it either. i can just download the movie again from private trackers...but i will keep seeding a very hard to find movie.
>>219320882why do you keep making this same exact thread
>>219320932yea op is a faggot as usual i dontend to watch the same shows over and over again though new shit is just that, shit however since I download things for my friends who are on my server I likely won't watch some of the stuff they ask me to put on there just cause theyre not my speed
>>219323338>however since I download things for my friends who are on my serverlol bitchboy
>>219323401what? sharing is caring. my friends and some of my relatives are too retarded to pirate
>>219323284You say this when PTP has been down for almost a week. It never matters until it does. The hoard chads will be ready for the inevitable and they will be the backbone for whatever the future will take us to.
>>219323557>my friends and some of my relatives are too retarded to pirateyou offer to do work for themsuch a bitch
>>219323605>You say this when PTP has been down for almost a week.I have HDB and more. I was prepared for that.
>>219323642HDB isn't a full replacement for PTP. You'd need KG at the very least along with it but the point stands regardless. You want the hoarders to be on those other sites too.
>>219323713>You'd need KG at the very least along with it but the point stands regardless.I have KG and CG as well. /ptg/ bro here.
>>219323772what is this nigga even talking about
I guess I just feel like... deleting stuff is an additional action point that I don't have motivation for. If I want to watch a movie, I have a lot of motivation to download it. Once I've watched it, what's the impetus to delete it?Obviously there is a cost thing, like HDDs are pretty expensive (hopefully a temporary supply issue). But the movies I download are capped at 5GB and my total storage is 10 TB so I can download a ton before getting near that limit.
>>219320882For fun
>>219325022Gay
is this an ad? how can one person be so upset about someone curating their own media collection. it has to be a jeet shilling their shitty 480p website at this point
>>219324690secret
>>219324743>I guess I just feel like... deleting stuff is an additional action point that I don't have motivation for. If I want to watch a movie, I have a lot of motivation to download it. Once I've watched it, what's the impetus to delete it?Just stream everything for free with Nuvio.
I only keep the stuff I really like
>>219328629>shilling their shitty 480p website at this pointI've never seen a streaming site that has 480p streams. It's all 1080p and 4K now.
If I like the movie enough I will simply go buy it
>>219331221i wouldn't know since i haven't touched one in more than a decade
I put all of my unwatched movies on a list and have been rolling an rng to decide what to watch. For every 3 I watch I can add another.
>>219331400Streaming sites work on your TV now.
>>219331481why would i? i get anything i want in non-compressed 4k by pressing a button in like 20 seconds
>>219331546>i get anything i want in non-compressed 4k by pressing a button in like 20 secondsI do that too, for free.
>>219331601>I do that too, for free.>think's i'm paying for piratinghow retarded are modern zoomies
>>219331640what do you do, then?
>>219331752i'm more curious why you think pirating means i have to be paying money--that defeats the whole point of it. also you're not getting 4k rips streamed natively from a streaming site like that
>>219331959>also you're not getting 4k rips streamed natively from a streaming site like thatthat's literally how it works now with many sites, you old fuck.
>>219331959>you're not getting 4k rips streamed natively from a streaming site like thatThat's what Nuvio literally does...
>>219332035They're not serving up 25-50GB remuxes I can guarantee you that
>>219332088Last thing I watched was a 20GB 4K web-dl so yeah....
>>219332135The piracy streaming sites are definitely re-encoding them.
>>219332354>The piracy streaming sites are definitely re-encoding them. No, anon. They just download them because that's how big 4K web-dls are. You can see the mediainfo in what you are streaming using any app like Nuvio.
>>219322949Because you care about quality releases and provenance. You can stream good releases from Usenet like 70% of the time though. And for new popular shit nuvio will likely be fine
Why do you keep making this thread??
>>219322745>>219331221The bitrate will be trash though, so you'll end up with artifacts. Not to mention frame sync issues.>>219331481nuvio isn't a streaming site.
>>219333525No shit. Its an app that connects to those sites.
>>219333525What artifacts? These sites just stream the original files. No re-encoding.
>>219323605>>219323642That's why I have omg and .in as backups.
>>219334304>>219334337What sites?
getting it... not having it. thats the excitement. downloading finding , thats the fun.
>>219334512Not for plebs like you
>>219334411>That's why I have omg and .in as backups.do you pay for usenet?
>>219320882I simply plug a USB stick into the side of my LG OLED TV and it plays everything (except Xvid/AVI files) I've torrented perfectly; 4K, HDR, 10-bit, etc.
ITT: seething poors who can't afford recreational storage
>>219340810storage prices are pretty unreasonable right now...
>>219339913>I simply plug a USB stick into the side of my LG OLED TVThat's even sadder than using an HDMI cable with your laptop.
>>219337273I don't think it exists unless you're using debrid or paying for a share (or have a hookup). Otherwise I don't think it's possible to serve that kind of n bandwidth for free unless things have changed. In any case it's still public releases.
>dump my whole downloads folder on there>100s of individual entries for TV and anime episodesmeh too much work
>>219324743ahh I can just download it again>8 years old 0 seedershmm
>>219340919it's only going to get worse. in five years time you will look back at the current "unreasonable" prices and regret that you didn't buy
>>219344209still not buying
>>219339913gives me the ick
switched to Jellyfin and tailscale as soon as plex ended remote streaming for free. Jellyfin works fine too, the Plex apps were often very slow and buggy, never liked using them, Jellyfin is much smoother on my laptop and although from time to time there I need to close it and restart most of the time it's flawless.
>>219352605>although from time to time there I need to close it and restart most of the time it's flawless.never had this issue
>>219323067I definitely rewatch shit a lot. Some things more than others.
>pays $50 a month for streaming services>doesn't watch most of the library everWhy do people do this?
>>219355877sounds like most people
>>219328182No u
>>219322949>purposely ruining the video quality by streaming stuffYou're an idiot.
>>219320882>Mogs Plex
Back when 1080s were good enough I had like 8 TB of movies and TV series saved but I hardly ever watched anything more than once and the stuff I did want to rewatch I could always download again easily so I just don't bother any more. It helps me watch more classic films I've never seen anyway.
>>219360467yeah this shit is way better. i like that you can turn off rt/imdb scores. i dont care what the consensus is on my kino.
>>219360581>Back when 1080s were good enoughThey still are(yify low bitrate dogshit doesn't count)
>>219355877I paid for streamfabI'll sub for a month at a time to grab huge pirate hauls off of those services
>>219360778people who obsess over high pixel count but compress the shit out of all their files are so fucking retarded its unreal.
> --no-sao --aq-mode 3this one simple trick makes your HEVC encodes look infinitely better and barely even that much bigger

>spend hundreds of dollarydoos on 2-8TB HDDs for media storage>set up all of the arr stacks and jellyseerr so users can download their own films/shows>turns out that real debrid and stremio / gelato completely negates the need for any of those>can stream a 80GB 4k rip directly to my tv >remote users can do the same thing with jellyfin/gelato as long as my upload can keep up. >can download a 100GB game at full 1 gig speedsi used to absolutely hate the idea of paid piracy but i think like $3 per month is worth it at this point.
>>219363537>i think like $3 per month is worth it at this point. It's really not. I pay nothing and get more than you do
>>219363636yeah and i bet you seed all of your torrents to 2:1 ratio for the allocated amount of time on your private server like a good little goy and saturate your upload bandwidth. I use my upload bandwidth to proxy my real debrid connection and stream anything at full 1 gig speeds.
>>219322061some are like that, some arent
>>219320932i keep track of the episodes i have seen by deleting those. hard drives constantly emptying just to be filled again(like how i fill your mother)
