I can't think of a single great tv show that ran for more than six seasons max - the greatest of all time, Mad Men and The Sopranos, ran for exactly that long. To me it was obvious that there was almost nowhere left to go with the story after season 5, and they wrapped up at exactly the right moment. We can only watch BoJack improve himself and backslide so many times before it starts to feel like the writers are just treading water.
