I don't believe the official story of this movie. The book was ok but I don't believe it.
No one believes that Tommy is a self made man like hundreds of thousands of Americans or immigrants to America that started with nothing and built a fortune from hard work and good luck. Tommy sold little birds to tourists and then started buying the birds wholesale to sell just for himself and moved up from there. Typical American Dream stuff which enrages a lot of third worldies
