Nobody liked s1. Mappa was embarrassed about it and tried to revise as much as they could in the compilation movies. The director got booted.

Anime simply does not and cannot compare to mediums like music, film and literature, for a multitude of reasons, and it will never be a respected art form in any way, shape or form unlike the aforementioned mediums. Even rap music is a more respected art form to partake than anime, and that should tell you something about anime as a medium.

There's only a few anime that can hold their own against the gross entirety of compelling and meaningful films from the likes of say Tarkovsky, Bergman, Tarr, Fellini and Bresson like Otomo, Oshii and Kon.

But even then, any comparisons immediately fail, as the whole of the medium (anime) taints the few decent or good outliers, and still yet, Otomo, Oshii and Kon are the exception, not the rule.

>Anime simply does not and cannot compare to mediums like music, film and literature, for a multitude of reasons
True, because it's a 2d animated medium. What a retarded statement. Music, film and literature also cannot compare to eachother. RETARD
>and it will never be a respected art form in any way, shape or form unlike the aforementioned mediums
Well, anime got and gets awards, love, fans just like the other mediums. Another retarded statement. RETARD
>Even rap music is a more respected art form to partake than anime, and that should tell you something about anime as a medium.
Rap falls under music, not a very clever statement but rather a retarded one. RETARD
>There's only a few anime that can hold their own
But you just stated the opposite. RETARD

Anyway, you're a retard who thinks he is smart but clearly isn't because you keep posting the same retarded pasta and image over and over. Point is..you're a RETARD

Those seem like simple things, yes. But in live action it's extremely easy to pull of stuff like that because you just need a guy who knows how to point the camera and obtain those effects. In 2D they need to not only come up with them but also draw those frames/shots from scratch with those aspects in mind. Much harder to do, and that's the impressive part - pulling them off in 2D. But you don't even think about that.

Not really, there is a skill to framing in live action too (obviously not as much as required by animation) but it has been completely lost because of the "just point a camera" mindset.

cinema is about art
this is just artifice, art makes you think, about yourself, the world, or w/e.
artifice makes you think about the work itself, how it's made, what techniques were used and the level of skill involved
anime is still not cinema

>>219333382
>cinema is about art
No offense anon, but we both know that not even you believe that.
/tv/ hasn't been an "enthusiast" board in over a decade, there's a reason the fastest threads on this board are all for reality TV gossip and culture war nonsense.
Trying to play the cultured film buff went out of style a long time ago.

just because you stopped caring doesn't mean the rest of the world stopped as well

>>219333538
Anon, the entire world has stopped caring.
Films haven't been art in decades.

If you want to keep denying reality, feel free, but I'm not going to engage with such a blatant denial of what's actually going on, it's as pointless as having a conversation with a chatbot.
