Really in the mood for a good western. What's your favorite?

For a Few Dollars More and One Upon a Time in the West are my two favorites
>>
Why not learn about the true story behind Once Upon a Time in the West?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4wjQT2hkbA
>>
"Cuts-Throat Nine" and "The Great Silence" are some awesome spaghetti's.
"Two Mules for Sister Sara" is an underrated Clint Eastwood one.
But I think you should watch one of the Budd Boetticher westerns with Randolph Scott. The protagonists are all influences on Leone's Man With No Name character and the films are filled with all the charm that should satiate your western cravings.

If you keep watching old westerns you'll realize the classics are actually the peak of the genre. The whole "capeshit" notion for westerns only comes from spaghetti's and revisionist attempts at creating an "accurate" portrayal of the west by making bloody, kill crazed movies. Meanwhile, traditional westerns are films that showed the human side of the pioneers who settled the West and did so with love. Any murder is the result of a dramatic climax in the story when there is nowhere else to go.

Same. It's fucking garbage. From the music, the pacing, the shitty love segment, the editing. Everything about it was shit. I don't even want to watch it a second time to see if my opinion will change after 8 years.

modern westerns look so soulless. where's the grit? where the dirt?
>>
>>219343461
What about good westerns released in the last 6 years?
I watched Dead for a Dollar today and found it lacking, not romantic enough to be classic or grim enough to be revisionist, But even then I find mid westerns to still make for decent films when compared to other genres. Rust while not good was still considerably more serious and real than most Hollywood stuff in other genres. I did like Horizon pt. 1 when I watched it in cinemas, but was puzzled by the rather cold reception it got audience and criticswise.
Anyway, as a solid recommendation, I think Old Henry was good: simple, low budget, very effective.

>>219346646
Hard disagree. I don't know how anyone could watch John Ford's westerns and not instantly recognize their superiority.
>>
>>219353051
Silence cuck. Flint is the greatest Western of modern cinema.

Truth. Americans are just mad because Italians make better films than they do. Name me one traditional western that comes close to the spaghetti ones everyone remembers. I'll wait.
