It's funny seeing this because I am not on an X-Files kick but I am on a William Gibson kick so I watched his two episodes recently

The hacker one was pretty great. Also a surprisingly straight adaptation of the whole Wintermute/Bobby Newmark/etc. threads from the Sprawl trilogy. It's weird that a random episode about two incredulous FBI agents adapted that sensibility more than say, Johnny Mnemonic ever did. Actually speaking of incredulous, the part that struck me oddest was that Scully doesn't believe in orbital lasers but when the girl talks about uploading brains to the internet, Scully responds like she actually believes that's a thing.

What the fuck was going on in First Person Shooter? Just terrible comedy? And I know terrible depictions of video games in TV shows is a worn cliche but this one was particularly bizarre because it seemed like no one in the production had ever seen or heard of a video game before

I've come to the conclusion it was an attempt at a Jose Chung's-eqsue meta episode.

The gag where they hype up the Korean guy so much only for him to immediately get beheaded was pretty funny

The gag where every man that meets the stripper, including Mulder, turns away and bites his hand was so unfunny and they kept doing it

It's based, and very 90s feeling. Very recommended. Great chemistry between the two leads.

It's good and still worth watching if comfy 90s supernatural TV appeals to you. What some fans won't tell you though, is that the quality of the episodes varies a lot. Some are classic TV and some are terrible. It may not be a bad idea to check episodes scores and reviews unless you really want to watch everything.
