It bounces up and down the timeline to cherry pick the incidents it bases it's stories off but it's a fun look at life in the Imperial palace after a particularly nasty Emperor has passed.Like Frieren it keep the usual anime/manga tropes down to the bare minimum and tells the story in a more western way.

It suffers from the same disease as Frieren in that it has to subordinate itself to the juvenile trappings of the medium.
