Did you like black hat as well? It was alright but vice had more action scenes.
>>
>>219367171
Haven't seen this one. Worth a watch?
>>
>>219367135
Why? It’s soulless Mannslop. It has one (1) good scene which is the car sniper scene. The rest is garbage.
>>
>>219367218
Yup, for the qt asian girl. Time is luck philosophy comes up. Would watch thief first so it doesn't ruin your appetite.

Literally the only movie /tv/ baited me into watching in almost 17 years of lurking. Absolute fucking trash.

Has any one got the meme of tubbs's neck being long as fuck or whatever it was

It's style over substance. You need a very high IQ to understand it.

What was with Michael Mann and asian girls in the 2000s?
>>
>>219367440
Fuck this episode is so good and such a unique spin on Heart of Darkness. The ending scene in the bar is pure kino

Dogshit movie. A perfect example of an all time kino director falling off. You hate to see it.
>>
>>219367890
I felt that way about the magnum pi episode where he has to tread water because he is lost at sea. He is remembering his father teaching him how . Its a very emotional episode and it ends beautifully. You forget that they really had writers and actors that cared and did their best.

Invasion of the Body Snatchers 78' is better than 56' but 56' is still kino.

What about the Nicole Kidman version?

NTA but the fact that's it's shot on mega-shitty early 2000"a era digital video ruins it completely and makes it unwatchable. Mann wasted the entire prime years of his career shooting on low grade not already for prime time digital video just because it worked once with Collateral which was a special case because of the subject matter.

He even shot a 1920's era period gangster movie with Johnny Depp on low grade digital and it's mega cringe and laughably bad. I just don't think anyone had the heart to tell him how stupid it looked because it was Michael Mann.

With Miami Vice you always see people try to cope by posting still images and discounting the fact that the movie looks ridiculous when in motion due to being shot on low grade early era digital video instead of film.
>>
>>219368483
I honestly think people like that are lying. 90% of the threads on this board about about literal slop and we're supposed to believe these 'people' have any taste at all
>>
>>219368566
I explain it perfectly here >>219368555
why it sucks and how pseuds have been trying to claim it's not shit for years.

Miami Vice is actually a pretty good test for exposing pseuds.

>the fact that's it's shot on mega-shitty early 2000"a era digital video ruins it completely and makes it unwatchable
It's actually the opposite but you need a high IQ to get it.
>>
>>219368695
I watched it again a couple of months back and I thought it was still really cool (again). I'll say it again, 90% of the threads on this board are about literal slop or incel shit (probs shills). If you truly care about cinematography why do you come here?
>>
>>219368750
Yeah his entire career mega-flopped once he went full digital because it's actually secretly kino. Yeah got it.
>>
I thought we all agreed it's kino
>>
>>219368750
>unwatchable
you can disregard anything else he says due to this. No need to over exaggerate so much
>>
>>219368936
>got it
I don't think you do, actually. Sorry anon.
>>
>>219369190
You are probably one of those mega plebs that keeps his video processing on at all times even though it's only good for sports. And you don't even know that you don't know that it should be turned off. Like it never even crosses your mind. A lot of that in this thread.
>>
>being this assblasted because your low IQ doesn't allow you to understand Miami Vice
I'm really sorry anon
>>
>>219369388
>Being this assblasted about a shit movie.

It was shit when I saw it in the theater. Its shit now. Sad attempts at revisions history doesn't make it not shit. You can't meme it into being good unless you want to do it ironically then yeah fine go ahead.
>>
the only flaw with the movie is they should've just used the original in the air tonight instead of the alt rock cover
>>
>>219367135
It was just ugly like all early digital movies, like something filmed on a cheap camcorder

Trips of truth
Studios kept giving this retard millions to shoot with a literal camcorder. Collateral worked because not only did it fit the style, all of the shots were in tight locations like the cab or an alleyway, so the feeling of "why the fuck does this look like a home movie" never came through. Miami Vice is the opposite, the beautiful panning shots of the highway and ocean would have been much better shot on a high grade camera instead of the grainy 720p Handycam shit he pulled.
>>
>zoomers who never even watched the original show thinking they can pass judgement on the movie
>>
>>219367135
great movie
>>219367218
if you can find the directors cut. the theatrical cut took out shit for runtime and it makes the plot harder to follow.

The movie has next to nothing to do with the show. Here's the similarities:
>set in Miami
>about two cops named Crockett and Tubbs
>
>>
>>219367135
>Major delays and budget cost increases due to hurricanes in South Florida
>Colin Ferrell pilled out of his mind while filming
>Security guard shot while filming in South America and Jamie Foxx left immediately refusing to return to film out of the country
>Mann had to rewrite the final shootout to be set in Miami instead of South America
This movie sounds like it was a nightmare to shoot and Mann never worked with Jamie Foxx again.

another cunty heard from. Public Enemies is great. What's with dumb people not being able to understand Mann films?
>>
It has a very specific aesthetic that is interesting, but colin and fox have no chemistry.

also lol at nu metal phil collins cover

ahh, the 2000s
