I liked La Jetee and Masters of Time but neither are really what you'd call cinema

I don't watch French content. Why would I want to see some degenerate nihilistic pedophile's perspective on the world?

That's not French cinema, those movies are made by an Arab creep whose entire filmography consists of movies about Arab invaders screwing French women.

I watched Shock of the Future and I liked it. It's about this lady who smokes cigarettes in rooms until eventually one of the rooms has a synthesizer in it and she starts smoking cigarettes and making electronic music. Pretty good.

So French culture in general?
>>
>>219372227
Hmm maybe I should look up some French films

Every other month, the french release a new movie about racism with the same two old actors in it. It's somehow a success every time

How are people supposed to understand this, the third movie, if the sequel never came out

from my memory (been a while since i've seen it)
the movie is about a group of white collar friends that want to have a giggle and invite a below average normal joe to mock him during a dinner (by making him act like the common retarded peon), they do but things happen and one of the guy wife leaves him and now the average joe (still thinking he's the main character friend (who is played by Thierry Lhermitte) tries to mend their relationship and eventually succeeds at the end.
the film is called "Le dîner de cons", (you could translate it in English as "Dinner of fools" or "Dinner of retards" maybe), notice how "cons" is in plural because in reality the real "cons" were the white collars and not the average guy who dindu nuthin' and wasn't even aware of how rude they were (except at the end i think), he was still helpful despite being ruthlessly mocked by actual retards.
but anyway, it's a funny movie and also a bit dramatic towards the end, the ugly guy actor (Jacques Villeret) is a legendary 10/10 actor but depressed and alcoholic in real life, he also played in the very good movie "Un crime au paradis" where he accidentaly kills his bitch wife who wanted to poison him (but he didn't know), it's also a dramatic movie but very well made.
he died of his alcoholism in 2005 and it was a great loss for French cinema.

his name is literally "Juste Leblanc" which translates to "Just Leblanc", it's a joke on his name.

This movie was such a piece of shit
>>
>>219368775
So sad that the 15-minutes unsimulated pussy-eating scene that the director tricked her into shooting by getting everybody drunk will never see the light of day

Véronique Genest also did full nudes with hairy bush and armpits, it can easily be found on the internet, she's so sexy even more in her MILF days.

and Uranus, a dramatic movie with Gérard Depardieu, also 10/10 movie about a post-war rural village.

Always bounced off it to be desu, have just picked up a Godard box set to try it out again though. I’m not sure how much I’ll click with it on another try but I feel like I should at least experience the pinnacles of the genre. Outside of that, I didn’t mind Haute Tension but I get that’s not really applicable here, same with Martyrs. Happy to take any other recs tho.

and this one is a post-WW1 movie, VERY GOOD watch.
i'll stop there but there's a lot of masterpiece movies to recommend that aren't just coomer bait.

>>219372693
this is true but i don't know if it really works as much as you think.
Christian Clavier is often in them for some reason, despite the fact he's an excellent actor who played in all the "Les visiteurs" movies with Jean Reno (almost all are good except the one in America is not as good and the lastest one is just bad).
if they made a Napoleon movie with Christian Clavier (he did it as a mini-serie that wasn't good) as Napoleon and with a good director, it would be an earth shattering movie, instead of the garbage of Joachim Phoenix.
>>
>>219373395
meh, i hate the Nouvelle Vague movies, it's pseud crap imo.
and Godard was an asshole and as most of them at that time.
