I've sort of always had a soft spot for Kitano's movies, there’s something about their quiet intensity. That said, his more recent work hasn’t quite landed the same way for me. It’s not necessarily bad, just feels like it’s missing a bit of what made his earlier films so compelling - call it sovl if you like.
